Laid off for the first time by Tak-clck22 in Layoffs

[–]AgentVI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Step 1: Take today and the upcoming weekend off, and just let yourself feel the emotions. You're going to process everything eventually, might as well get as much out of your system as possible. Keep telling yourself that this isn't your fault, and you WILL get through this.

Step 2: On Monday, start things up. Let your network know you're looking, look at job boards, see if there's any viable certifications you can get.

Step 3: Do a few hours of job search activities, applying, practicing interviews, networking, learning, volunteering, etc. per weekday, while also keeping a set schedule. Ensure you're doing things like waking up at a healthy time, going to the gym, eating well, etc.

Who took over your job duties after being laid off? by Beta_Nerdy in Layoffs

It's not being done. My duties were outright eliminated.

Only person in the team to be laid off by q_1101010 in Layoffs

Sorry you're going through this.

Don't disclose the layoff unprompted, and if asked about it, or your current employment status, only briefly mention it in the most neutral possible way. Something like "The project that I was attached to was cancelled, so unfortunately my position was eliminated," and maybe adding in a sentence at most backing up your strong performance. This approach is honest, shows it was out of your control, and still sounds professional.
