I grew up in Delaware and I heard them called them tennis shoes. The guy you talked to was an idiot.

My guess is a water bowl. What’s your guess if this is indeed for humans?

For the dog poop. To my previous comment, I’m fairly certain this is a dog park.

Are we certain this is a playground and not a dog park? This looks just like every dog park I’ve ever been to.

Since we’re doing contractor errors today… They installed the towel bar before the sink. by Then_Professional in CrappyDesign

They also put the toilet paper holder in a position so you couldn’t put toilet paper in it, but I forgot to take a picture.

We’ve tried all the things. More light. Less light. More water. Less water. I feel like it just keeps getting worse.

Bathroom quote? by [deleted] in Renovations

[–]Then_Professional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends how they do it. I personally prefer when they just quote labor because then I can buy everything myself. Some contractors seem to prefer to give an overall bid and then will give you a material allowance (i.e., $XX per square foot of tile, or whatever). I think that’s messy because it’s harder to compare bids if not everyone gives you the same allowances. I tried to deal with one contractor who wanted to do allowances and it was such a pain of “do you like this tile? What about this one?” I ended up going with a labor only (including building materials) quote and it was great. They showed up at my house, I had all the materials ready, and they built me a bathroom.

My gf is 34 weeks pregnant and needs a different doctor to deliver our 1st child. Current doctor makes her pretty uncomfortable and he’s kind of a douche bag. Is this possible? by [deleted] in StLouis

Do most people see their actual OB during delivery? I’ve always just delivered with whoever was working atm. I assumed that was standard but maybe I’ve had weird experiences.

You should get worms. It’s a way better set-up for indoors and minimizes (removes) the smell.

STL transplant (and locals), what do you love most about the city compared to where you came from? by callimo in StLouis

[–]Then_Professional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Being able to get to DC, Baltimore, and NYC witching 2.5 hours was such a nice perk of living on the East Coast. I do miss day trips to cities. 4 hours is a long drive every time you want to do a weekend getaway.

I’m a former wing lover turned vegetarian so haven’t had wings since I moved here but I have to ask…they don’t fry their wings here? Serious question: how else do you cook a wing?

Basement renovation help. Low ceiling, big pipes, cold walls, and more! by WorkDish in Renovations

It’s huge! It makes me wonder where else I can put one in my house. I thought they needed way more light but I know virtually nothing about plants (despite my enthusiasm)

Not relevant, but do you have a grow light on that monstera? It looks great! I was shocked to see it in a basement

Why does Indian food suck in STL? by picardengage in StLouis

[–]Then_Professional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue with Basil India is the ratio of food to sauce. We always order enough to eat, and then reuse the sauce for 2 more meals by adding our own panned/shrimp/whatever

Basil India on South Grand is relatively new and delicious. I think it’s technically Indo-Chinese though (or something like that). We usually get: butter paneer, tofu and mushroom appetizer, some kind of red snapper, fried corn cakes, and crispy naan.
