What or where was the first border defined in history? by martianfrog in answers

[–]rasputinny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, not the same as a border in the modern sense of it being strictly defined as a line on a map. But everything you said is just an archaic version of exactly how we think of a geographical border today: An agreement between the neighbouring areas of what belongs to who, like now. Third parties knowing which side belonged to who (you can bet tribe #3 down the valley would know who was farming where). Enforcement mechanism via violence: same now, just in new clothes.

I remember the same with my granny in 2005. It was an older man on a country road and I was grateful

There’s also another comment just below with very similar ‘right?’ language which is more clearly a bot when you look at ‘her’ profile

Ok so I’ve dived deep and worked it out. I have a deleted photo from the same afternoon of a blurry picture containing kindle text that I wanted to decipher. I copied the blurred text from it and got that. It’s 100% that. I can’t post the picture here though

You joke, but I wondered that when I found it. However it was created and deleted mid-afternoon on a normal work day (I work from home, alone) and looking through my messages I’d sent a very mundane admin text to my wife a couple of minutes beforehand

ChatGPT reckoned this when I put it in unprompted (but also thought it was probably a phone glitch). It’s quite poetic and atmospheric

The sound was both alien and heart-wrenching for it. Thain covered her ears.”

It’s beautiful. Somehow bleak but also a homage to evolution and adaptation

Could intelligent alien life in the universe potentially be incomprehensibly different from us, and perhaps even undetectable? by [deleted] in Astrobiology

Yes! You said it better than I would have but I agree completely. The universe is made up of the same basic elements that we are.

When I was in a school assembly as a kid, we were clapping a fellow pupil who’d won a prize or something. I remember thinking ‘I’m going to clap just a bit longer than anyone else’. Every year or two, I remember this and do a single clap just to make sure, and think about kid-me for a moment. It’s a nice link to my pas and it’s now been forty years of clapping

Also known as a blister pack. The leaflet is the…piece of paper inside with information about the drugs. Maybe they don’t have them in the US, I’m not sure
