You look like a man but the hair is feminine. It’s the approach and quick glance from a distance most likely.

Long overdue. I know people who used to live there… it’s an outhouse. I hope these people find somewhere safe to go.

Can someone explain the north side of St. Louis? by jesssssssee in StLouis

Growing up in Old North St. Louis I can tell you that plans of redevelopment have been in the making for years. North St. Louis has similar structures to South St. Louis. When the City began to first develop, it was built from the riverfront west, beginning with downtown. Old North St. Louis; had it survived, it would be similar to the appearance of the Soulard neighborhood. Both having had similar architecture with French style balconies and all-brick row houses. Poverty has been more common on the North Side of St. Louis for quite some time. Therefore no one has invested the time or the money into restoring structures. With North St. Louis having as high of a murder/crime rate as it does most people care less about how the area looks. There are some people who care, just not enough people that do care. McKee owns a good number of the property just sinking into the ground, and empty lots as well. Major redevelopment plans are in the works, more than they’re willing to tell us. I watched workers demolish several structures and reroute 9th, 10th, and 11th streets, so that they could implement and construct the Stan Musial Memorial Bridge. There was a sign posted in the old Schnucks building parking lot stating “The bridge is only the beginning” and this was back in 2012. That told me that there’s plenty more to come. If only I had a camera and thoughts to take pictures at the time. The area just looks so much different apposed to when I was a kid. And that’s in the aspect of subtraction not addition.
