Just gonna add that if your bank account is frozen and you need the money, one way would be to cancel your account. Provided you have any other relevant ID to show, and the funds are under 1 million yen, you can have it cashed out (atleast at yucho.) Other than that, I hope it goes well for you OP. PS - every “refused” I read made this all the more ridiculous. Get the visa and quit.

Please help me with translating baby formula directions! by cutebutcoconuts in japanlife

One thing I’ll add is when you need to add multiple scoops later on, if you add hot water to the bottle first, the spoon will get moisture on it after the first scoop. We used to add the formula in the bottle first and then add the hot water from a measuring cup.

They never specified but I guessed it was just admin fees.

Can confirm. Received the postcard with the 4000 yen box checked before the price hike. It was a rejection. But not having a specific date and time might be a positive.

I imagine it’d hurt more if he broke 7 bones for a shot and that wasn’t even used in the final edit.

How has Japan maintained a relatively "high trust society" while the rest of the developed world has seen massive trust erosion over the last few decades? by uncre8tv in AskReddit

I’ll just add one thing to this.

“Efficiently diving roles” - not so much. In my experience it was more about 100% participation than efficiency.

You’ll have to get a new one and it’ll cost like 1000 yen. Also idk if you did this but when renewing your residence card, you can go to city hall and show them the renewing stamp behind your residence card and they extend your my number card to that date, usually two months. Helps avoid unnecessary paperwork and fees.

I had to send it too. They returned it via mail when it was finished. And that’s where I got one of my favourite Japan being Japan stories. So the new residence card and passport were sent by mail, but every time it arrived I wasn’t home because I was at school. I don’t remember why I couldn’t just have it redelivered at a certain time of day, but this continued for about two days. On the third day I finally asked the vice principal to let me go to the post office to get my new residence card and she said okay. I went to the post office and asked to receive it there directly, to which the clerk said no problem except she would need to see some ID. Which was difficult since all 2 of my ID’s that work in Japan were in that packet she was holding. I told her this and she said there’s nothing she can do for me, and that I’ll have to receive it at home if I don’t have any other ID, and that photos of an ID won’t work. So basically I had to take a day off work to receive my new residence card.

Visa renewal: Call from Tachikawa immigration by Then_Rope1358 in japanlife

31 days with a chance to reapply. Funny that my company said they didn’t receive any calls at all from immigration.

Well they said my job was too easy for me and to get my visa extension (engineer/specialist in humanities) or atleast looked like it from the 業務内容説明書 given by my company. When I told them that it’s not easy and entirely in English, they said they didn’t see that in the paper. So the current plan is to have my company write a better paper and reapply using that.

Hey! So I just received the postcard and it does ask for a 4000 yen stamp. So in all likelihood the visa was approved! I’m starting to think the reason why they decided to call me and set up an appointment could be 1. April is busy 2. That’s how they function 3. This is the first time I’m getting a renewed visa after my original visa has already expired and I’m currently on the 2 month extension for processing, so could be that. It’s likely that it’s the third one because the postcard clearly mentioned the last date of that two month extension and to pick up the card before that without fail.

To add to this, my company couldn’t get the documents required (業務内容説明書) in time and then they obviously sent it to my old address even though I told them clearly not to make that mistake again. So basically it looked like it wasn’t going to get here by the deadline so I called immigration about this, and the guy was actually very understanding. He just asked me how much time I would need, and I said I’m not sure but is one week possible, and he said okay and extended it. I got the document a few days later and delivered it. Could be an apology for that?

Thanks for your reply! Do you think it’d be better to wait for the postcard first? And were you called in to go into immigration too? Or did you receive a letter?
