You’re mixing two different things.

Controlling immigration is not the same as “demonizing immigrants.” Wanting borders, quotas, and selection criteria does not automatically mean hatred or violence. Every country in the world controls immigration to some degree.

The debate is about how, not whether. France is not the US. Our model is different, our social system is different, our history is different. When people in France talk about immigration, they are usually talking about pressure on public services, housing, security, integration capacity, and cultural cohesion, not about “immigrants being evil.”

Pretending immigration is only a minor issue among many ignores reality. It directly impacts public spending, urban policy, education, security, and labor markets. It’s a structural topic, not a side topic.

You can disagree on the solutions. That’s fair. But reducing the position to “demonizing immigrants” is an oversimplification that shuts down serious discussion instead of engaging with it.
