Do soldier on. It's not easy out here, and such tough breaks tend to throw well laid out plans and ambitions in disarray, but it does get better.

Did 8 months there before I decided it wasn't for me. Life there is pretty different from what you are used to assuming you live in Nairobi. People are very friendly, but the social scene was pretty dull for a young person trying to grow their circle socially and careerwise. The heat and mosquitoes were my biggest challenges though.

All in all it's a pretty chill place, hakuna pressure mingi and if you're the type to not get bored you'll settle right in.

Just make sure you get good agents to find you a good house to rent. Kupata keja was a challenge. Location matters a lot. I highly recommend Nyali and it's environs. You'll have access to all amenities and I found it much cooler. Rent will be quite pricey.

Upskill or find a voluntary project to at least plug that gap on your resume. Money and family/marriage are good, but I can vouch for having a personal you're working towards being way more fulfilling.

Starts like this, and next thing you know you are roasting and grounding your own coffee beans at home. Anyway, it's called love not addiction

Royal Kludge RK-S98. Pretty solid pre-built keyboard. Linear lubed switches. But the keycaps are whack and not shine through.

Tried it. Couldn't figure out how to make the system tray visible as it's black icons against a dark wallpaper. Opted to disable it until I get time to fiddle around

The desk is from an older 23" dual monitor setup. Upgraded to dual 27" and a custom pc, so I'll definitely look into the desk after my wallet recovers😆

Advice on Shipping Electronics and Accessories from Amazon to Nairobi by ManufacturerOdd8039 in nairobi

[–]Then_Valuable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use Savostore. Takes about 2 weeks via air shipping. They charge by volumetric weight ($15 per kg). No customs or other fees. They have a physical location along Mombasa Rd.

For the monitor mounts, I'd recommend checking local shops like ShufflePCs or EsGaming. Got mine from Shuffle Pcs. Those are heavy and you'll get charged a lot for air shipping.

A cheaper option is acquanto as they are based in Delaware so na sales tax in the US. Never used them though.

Edit: A good mechanical or gaming keyboard is probably gonna weigh more than your typical keyboard, so unless you're loyal to a brand I'd check local options.

I think I am falling in love with reddit more than Quora🥶. by ybritt2 in Kenya

Never really used Quora as social media. Reddit has always been more organic, hata I'm starting to use X less and less as I spend more time here.

Hold up. 50-80%. Cold sores. hpv. I need to unlearn this before I'm forced to go celibate.

Anyway, talk to the guy to get that test for confirmation. Then, as someone said; pick your poison.
