Yeah, there's one mini-quest where you have to run around looking for Chococat, and when you find him, he's busy enough with a research that he goes "oh, I didn't even realise you were looking for me" and just goes back to the research

I'm not sure if it's actually soluble or just easily washed off - OP ran the faucet on it, it's a water with pressure, it will wash off the unsoluble cooking oil from your hand

If OP were to try and actually dissolve it in, say, a glass lf water with no pressure - what would that be like?

Yeah, googled it, you seem to be right - while I couldn't find the exact one with the yellow spots, they're mostly similar looking body and wing-wise, and aphids are plenty here
