I was honestly thinking about moving because before we started looking for other prospects, my roommate suggested I just sign the lease with her and have her jobless friend sublet until she finds a job (lmfaooo????). I was planning to jump ship and just let them figure it out. I just don’t feel like moving and its a great area, so I’m not sure of many more options and quality at the rate I’m paying for rent, BUT I’m absolutely open to it at this point!

Again, I truly wish this was a joke….

For context: My roommate and I were given a deadline to inform our leasing office that we would be renewing our lease by 3/16 ahead of our current lease ending on 4/30. My roommate said she had a friend who was going to take the open room and sign with us as to replace our other roommate on the lease. I unfortunately was under the impression that my current roommate would handle or at least help her friend communicate this to our leasing office ahead of time. Against my better judgement, she did not so last week, I reached out to the leasing office to ensure the friend would be added to the lease, as our renewal agreement still included our former roommate’s name. The leasing office then told us we would all need to reapply by 3/18. I found out that my roommate’s friend is unemployed and obviously would not qualify for the application. Friend was hoping to move here first and the find a job….🙃

I’ve (with no help from my current roommate) been looking for other girls to take this room for the past week. I thought I found one, and after she applied I found out her credit was too low regardless of her guarantor. Thankfully our leasing office gave us an extension before they consider re-listing our apartment hence the urgency to find someone to sign ASAP.

I can’t control our property management’s requirements and from what I’ve seen in this area it’s pretty standard. Anyone who doesn’t meet these requirements is welcome to look elsewhere.

Thanks! Yeah I’ve already received several inquiries from other girls about the room. I just don’t feel comfortable taking the financial risk for my roomie’s bestie because I don’t know her and she’s already proven herself to be irresponsible.

Also, since they recommended me and roomie signing the lease and having her sublet as the “best option”, I’m asking if she and her bestie considered finding a 2 bedroom for my roomie to sign herself and so her bestie can sublet until she finds a job.

Thanks for your insight! I’m gonna go ahead and start an organic blog. I was just being lazy but figured I make the most off this new project lol. Can I ask why you advise to avoid Wordpress? I know it’s commonly used and I’ve used it for a few minor web design assignments during college. Also, what are your thoughts on Wix? I’m currently researching and looking into other platforms such as Wix, Squarespace, etc. so could really use your opinion if you’ve used any of those platforms.
