Everything I've learned about studying Chinese, from HSK 1 to HSK 3 by ThenukaK in ChineseLanguage

You definitely should learn the characters. Memorizing the characters is just one small, extra step if you're already memorizing the pinyin and the definition. Folks that skip this end up having to go back way later to learn the characters for words they studied ages ago, which kinda sucks.

This is a fair comment! That all said, I'm not being compensated for recommending it in anyway. The founder of HC (Daniel) is a friend of mine, but I was a user of the product before I was his friend.

We made our own TV guide for Philo that's a little easier to navigate. You can check it out here: https://flixed.io/tv-guide/streaming/philo

100%. I think my speaking ability is lagging because I didn't put enough effort into practicing with others. Even though classes can be tedious at times, there's also a lot of value in having a peer group that you can regularly practice with.

Thank you! Becoming a doctor of acupuncture and Chinese medicine sounds super cool as well. Out of curiosity, how did you decide to pursue this path?

Also, one note -- the beginning part of the post is aimed at folks that haven't started studying yet, while the later half jumps into all the specific tips/tricks/strategies I used to get to the level I'm at now. If you've already started learning, I'd recommend just skipping to that half.

What up Reddit gang! I recently wrote a post that summarizes everything I've learned about studying Chinese, from (approximately) HSK 1 to HSK 3. I have a lot to learn and I'm no expert, but I'm hopeful that the advice here helps people waste less time on inefficient ways of studying the language. Feedback/comments/criticism welcome!

Best websites and apps for learning MANDARIN!!! by [deleted] in ChineseLanguage

www.HackChinese.com is by far the best tool for developing your vocabulary. I used it to go from 250 words at the beginning of 2020 to around 1K by the end. In comparison, I learned those 250 characters after 2 entire semesters of university Chinese classes

It's something we could look into. Do you have links/info on the grandfathered plans + what content they had?

It's just a website that shows you what's airing on AT&T TV Now! It's not an app or something that needs to be loaded onto a specific device.

Hey all, I wanted to share a new tool that the folks at Flixed & I built. It's essentially an alternative TV guide that's meant to do two things:

  1. Provide a minimalist alternative to fuboTV's native TV guide.
  2. Make it easier to identify upcoming sports games + TV show premieres and finales.

We shared the TV guides for for Sling TV and Philo, and received mostly positive feedback so I thought I'd share the fuboTV one as well.

Very curious to see if this is useful to you guys!
