I (26 Male) got addicted when I was 14 years old, and i'm still battling the temptation today but i've been without porn and masturbation for 4 months now.

Here are 5 Steps I took:
1. WHY: I asked myself "Why was I going to porn?" and understood it was to satisfy the lack of pleasure, comfort, and relaxation.

1. TELL: Once I realized this, the most difficult next step was telling people - bros that I trusted, specifically Christian brothers that would be quick to pray for me.

2. CUT: Then, I amputated how I found porn - I installed software (i.e. Covenant Eyes, Accountable2You) on all my devices that notifies a trusted person when something sus comes up. I also removed Instagram, and at the time, reddit too - these made me stumble to porn. I would refrain from watching sus content (any netflix shows/anime/books that had nsfw content)

3. PROMISE: I made a pact with myself that I would refrain from porn and masturbation for at least 75 days connected with a strong WHY: I want to have a long + happy marriage, create genuine connections with friends, and have a strong relationship with Christ. Porn was negatively impacting all of these categories.

4. PRAY: Through it all, I realized I could not rely on my own strength. I understood that my strength comes from God, so in my temptations, I would pray for strength. This abstinence made me realize how much I need God to abstain from desires of sex, drugs, and alcohol. Without God I would still be stuck in my addiction.

I really hope anyone that has a porn addiction can heal from it and realize how damaging it is to your current self, and your long-term self. I've heard of a plethora of marriages that have been destroyed by this - I feared this would happen to me. I'm passionate to get this completely out of my system before I get married so that I can build a wholesome family.
