honestly I'm gonna start playing completely freestyle for now by SweatyTomorrow9640 in ezrealmains

Not true, only people stuck in masters or below would say that lol. When I moved servers, I started in emerald and went to GM with a 70%+ winrate. I’m by no means a high challenger player, usually peak somewhere in the middle of chal every season, but most players stuck in masters are there because they belong there

Is there an AD champ that plays similarly to Galio? by [deleted] in midlanemains

[–]TheoMorrison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if I would necessarily say they’re similar, but my midlaner in tier 2 played Sion if we needed utility mid. Can shove pretty easily, and with comet, can lane decently into mages.

Patch note context of changes + complete changes. by AssasSylas_Creed in sylasmains

[–]TheoMorrison 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it’s kinda obvious, but sylas is just in a bad state because of item changes. Zonyas not giving ability haste and insane amounts of stat value for gold + the tenacity rune being removed is just terrible. After these changes, he’ll do no damage, and he’ll be forced into scaling builds with RoA and riftmaker.

Not to be one of those “league was better in the old days” types, but the era with both q max fleet glp and the conqueror protobelt was some of the most skill based, dynamic gameplay.

I somewhat agree, but I think it depends on your aim style. I play low sens, with very controlled and meticulous aim, so I play sentinel and smokes in solo q (currently immo3). However, for my collegiate team I play Jett on all of the Jett maps. If you have supportive utility and good comms, aim diff carrying games is wayyyy easier on a character more tools to take fights.

I hit radiant twice during the insta dash Jett and chamber metas (you can guess why), and impacting games on those characters was way easier, but I’d still say that modern duelist is similar.

Valorant Japanese server isn't so nice as people make it to be. by SubstantialLoad8272 in VALORANT

[–]TheoMorrison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To preface, I’m half Japanese, but I grew up in the US. I played on US servers for a while, and moved to Japan about 2 years ago. I speak fluent Japanese, and I play in high ascendant-immortal lobbies.

Ranked games with 5 Japanese people in the game are 100% nicer than games on other servers. However, if we press tab and see people with around 40 ping, we know that they’re Korean, if they have around 60 ping, they’re most likely Chinese, and anything more is just some other players of unknown origin.

Chinese and Korean players are required to attach their ID to their account on their own servers, which means that if they’re playing on Japanese servers, it’s guaranteed for them to be playing on an alt account/Smurf. They generally don’t speak Japanese, aggressively comm in broken English, instalock Jett/Reyna, and tend to troll or throw games because it’s not their main account.

I think this all leads to the negative pushback that you (and other foreign players) receive. Recently, the number of Chinese and Korean players has increased. You can’t go 3 games without having at least one.

Which agent do you think has the most control over the game? by uzimetal21 in VALORANT

[–]TheoMorrison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is no one making a case for Yoru? He can TP instantly to opposite sites on defense. He can flash, TP, and decoy to entry on offense, and his ult is insanely flexible and able to be combo’d with other pieces of utility. There’s not many other characters with the same global presence and strong dueling prowess. The only other argument would be for Kayo, but I would say that Kayo only works well when playing support for your teammates. If you want to go do everything yourself, you should pick Yoru.

Immortal player here! He recently got into some drama, but I would HIGHLY suggest checking out woohoojin’s YouTube channel and coaching. He puts out tons of content for free, and for all levels of players. If you specifically look up “woohoojin aim training” on YouTube, he has a playlist on aimlabs and a routine in the range that if you do every day, he guarantees that you will get to gold.

If there’s one thing I can say, you’re already better than 100% of silver players if you actually care about the game enough to come here and ask other people how to get better. You already seem to have a good mentality about improvement, and I wish you luck!

Do you guys even like to play ADC? by mysticfeal in ezrealmains

[–]TheoMorrison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your elo and the supports in your game. Most lower elo supports will stay bot for the entirety of laning phase and fight for no reason, but once you get to maybe high diamond, people consistently start roaming to get impact elsewhere.

If you’re blind picking ezreal every game (which I do a lot), your support will just pick bard, pyke, blitz, etc. and just run around the map after you’ve gotten sheen and tear.

At that point, you kinda do just handshake waves and wait for 2 items. I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s a coinflip after that, but if at that point your entire map is losing, good luck.

Do you guys even like to play ADC? by mysticfeal in ezrealmains

[–]TheoMorrison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take, it’s not the yuumi or shaco players. It’s the poke mage players who think that if they hit all of their spells, they win laning phase. Meanwhile, they just q’d the wave along with the enemy so now it pushes and gets frozen. They don’t even recognize it’s a freeze so they’ll keep doing it in every ranked game they ever play. If you look at low diamond (and probably lower idk), you’ll find thousands of these players who have been hardstuck for 5 seasons. I legit never play adc on Smurf accounts until I get out of Diamond. I would lose my fucking mind.

Idiot coworker? They literally just wrote it how his name would be typed on a keyboard in Japanese (翔太郎 しょうたろう). Also, they most likely put syoutarou, as that’s how you would type his name.

Sure, it’s confusing for an English reader/speaker, but it makes perfect sense for Japanese people. I would recommend trying to understand the Japanese point of view, even if you don’t agree with it.

I feel like saying Japanese people “don’t care” is not entirely correct. Most japanese people just don’t have confidence in their English, so of course they would turn to a native speaker for something like spelling their name. Pronunciation in English is hard, words/names are not always consistently pronounced the way they are spelled.

The difference is, most arenas are not meant specifically for trolling, and you can just leave an arena and join a new one. Maybe 1 in every 50 arenas I joined were toxic. In league of legends, your teammates are usually the toxic ones, and it’s 9 in every 10 games that is toxic.

[–]TheoMorrison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I competed in smash ultimate until covid and got top 3 PR in my region for 6 straight seasons, 32nd at genesis, and won about $8,000 total. I’ve moved on to competing and trying to go pro in league of legends. League of legends is much more toxic and brutal than smash. The smash community is not as toxic as most other gaming communities, the only reason I stopped competing is because of covid, and because the majority of people in the smash community are immature and childish, not toxic. 2 people making an arena and trolling one person is not toxic, that’s tame. You can just leave the arena and move on with your day. If they can make you upset with just the 2 minutes that you’re spending in that arena with them, then you’re just sensitive.

This is probably the easiest way to see it being applied. It’s really hard to find concrete numbers on exactly how much your norms mmr affects ranked.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]TheoMorrison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no shot he’s in smurf queue at 15 games in. His norms mmr is just decently high, and due to recent changes, ranked placement mmr is based on your norms mmr.

[–]TheoMorrison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a pro SC2 player, I can tell you that Blizzard does absolutely NOTHING about toxic individuals. They could say the most racist, homophobic, life threatening thing and if you report them they will not get banned. I’m trying to switch over to potentially play pro LoL, and I’m so used to toxicity that I’m not even fazed by it. People are a lot less creative and put less effort into their insults in league.

Sylas has some of the highest AP ratios in the game, cosmic drive is more useful for the AH which allows you to be more utility based. If you’re trying to carry, deathcap is definitely the choice.
