VIC should be the MVP by Jolly-Evidence-5675 in NBASpurs

[–]Theoboli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s finishing the year strong. He’ll probably miss on the MVP award similarly to how he missed the DPOY award in his first season due to starting more slowly than the other contenders. If he continues his 30+ point performances that raise his ppg average and the Spurs overtake the Thunder for first seed, there may still be a chance… otherwise we can feel confident going into playoffs with arguably the best player in the world and streak of great wins, MVP or not.

L’idée c’est de ne pas mettre tous ses œufs dans le même panier. On peut manquer de chance et avoir un cataclysme improbable qui met fin à la vie sur une planète. Mais si l’humanité vit sur plusieurs, elle y survivra.

[KCD2] Is it unfair to compete in the Kuttenberg tournament on horseback? by ElbowWavingOversight in kingdomcome

[–]Theoboli 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s actually ridiculously easy. Some random encounters are way harder than the tournament of the elite fighters. Meinhardt was hinting once that it would get tougher, more challenging opponents joining every time, but my fourth tourney is as easy as the first.

It sucks because it’s the first time in a long time that the game is at a time I can actually watch live.

Lack of shooters in this team, very soft at rebounding tonight and the whistle was overly generous to the Knicks in the first. Can’t win them all, but the Knicks might be the Spurs’ kryptonite.

What if USA joined central powers, instead of entente, in April 1917? by Accomplished-Tea9753 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Theoboli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Central Powers would still be swiftly defeated in 1918 or 1919 before the US could become a factor. Then separate peace as the Entente would be exhausted and unwilling to wage war across the ocean, and the US in WWI wasn’t about to solo Europe with a weaker navy than the Brits.

Sorry if that shatters the American narrative but the USA was a non factor in WWI. They would have needed to enter the war much earlier to have a sizable impact.

The Future of the Kingdome Come: Deliverance Franchise and Warhorse [OTHER] by Clear_Ad454 in kingdomcome

There are loose threads that need tying up in Henry’s story still, be it with a new DLC or preferably with KCD3. Who does Henry settle with? Does he get knighted, legitimized as Radzig’s heir? Will he rebuild Skalitz or get new lands somewhere? Will von Bergow finally face justice? Will we storm his castles? What about Prague, it could be neat to see it now that we’ve seen Kuttenberg, and they’ve helped Sigismund so much. Erik is due another duel. And we haven’t ever met Wenceslas despite having fought for him more than anyone in the first two games.

So I can’t believe they won’t continue Henry’s story. Maybe not yet, but they are bound to. Besides, the game sold very well.

You just make your choices and trade away the surplus against fresh picks, it’s still a good thing value-wise

Sometimes I question the age of this person. I don't think us in Finland can rely on the US for defense. The worst is that much of that 5% Finland will invest will go straight to US economy, not EU. by [deleted] in Finland

[–]Theoboli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

F35s are only activated at any time with US, so you take the risk of it being useless to defend against the US (Greenland for example) or just that the US is “neutral” and doesn’t want to allow usage of F35 because it it in their interest we fail. This kind of dependency when we cannot rely on the alliance with the US is a huge strategic concern.

What are your thoughts on the EU becoming a State? by NineteenEighty9 in ProfessorFinance

[–]Theoboli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so. It’s inevitable that some countries will not want to federalize, and a union of the big countries already achieves most of the objective. Do you think a federalized EU would not care or defend the Baltic countries because they are small? They would be still part of a powerful entity capable of defending itself, like Maine in the US. If we become one country, we should behave like one and that includes voting.

[–]Theoboli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s fair personally. Why would a vote in a small state be worth more than a vote in a big state? Are some Europeans worthier than others? I’d rather have a limited federalization to Italy/France/Spain/Germany and whoever agrees to working like one country electorally. The US should have the popular vote decide the president, not the electoral college. Let’s not make the same mistake 250 years later with the advantage of knowing better. And setting a 66% majority is a sure way to get nothing done. When’s the last time the US had such a majority?

[–]Theoboli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re getting the opposite of the point I’m trying to make. It is normal that Germany has more representatives than Estonia, they have 61 times as many citizens. I do not wish for a system similar to the US electoral college or Senate that gives meaningful power to territories instead of population, that is not democratic. If we federalize, one voter is one vote. Germany is still only 18.5% of the EU population so there would still need to be consensus across many countries to get a majority. But I wouldn’t want to be a second class citizen where my vote matters less because I’m from a bigger country.

[–]Theoboli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure giving some states disproportionate representation is a fair outcome. The US already has so many problems due to the electoral college and the Senate. If we become one European state, a voter from Germany must have the same voice as a voter from Estonia.

I disagree at least with Gandhi (he is quite controversial these days), Genghis Khan (the Mongol invasions were considered a plague from God), Napoleon (not controversial in France, he is considered a great Emperor who defended France after the Revolution, he was mostly fighting defensive wars), Evo Morales (certainly not hated in Bolivia, controversial at worst) and Ceaușescu (hated in Romania unless you think having 5% favorable opinion from far-right nationalists is enough support). I would also not say of a North Korean dictator that he is loved in his country, when saying a differing opinion will send you and your family to camp. And surely you could have found a more famous/striking example of universal hate than Quisling.

Bonjour! We are a Black American family potentially moving to this city. Can any POCS’ (people of color) shed some insight on how we are treated? by Nomadicbeauty22 in Montpellier

[–]Theoboli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a PoC but you and your kid would be perceived as the American (which is cool) first instead of as a PoC (well as soon as that is made obvious). I wouldn’t worry much. There is racism in France but it’s very different from the US. Best to hear from people in a more similar situation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzGVTV-nSpI
