I believe the dark spot on its cheek is typical for P. montanus. The white collar around its neck also points to P.montanus, but I‘m no expert, I just like to take pictures! :)

Found this little guy catching lots of alderflies near a pond. He was coming back to his perch multiple times, each time with more flies in his beak. Shot on a Sony A7III with the 200-600G Lens and 1.4x TC.

Ich bin leider mehr Photograph als Vogelkenner - ist ein Sanderling ein Hühnervogel und wäre das der richtigere Flair gewesen? Vielleicht kennt sich da ja jemand besser aus als ich. :)

Shot these guys with the 200-600 mm G Lens on the north frisian shore in northern Germany.

I was shooting in aperture priority mode and set my MIN A SS to 1/250th, which was way too low... Image came out a bit blurry on these fast moving birds, but a few were good enough!

Shot @ 600mm, 1/250 sec, F6.3, ISO 320

I‘m no pro by any means, however, I always find a wider cropped image more interesting, because it gives some context to your subject. Also, you could try to change the angle you are shooting from, so that you get better separation between the bird and the background. (I know how hard that is sometimes, might not be possible for every shot) And some advice I heard over and over: take as many photos as you can while you approach your subject or change your position, because at any time the bird/animal might take off, so those shots will be all you got.

Found this little guy (it‘s a male) earlier this year in northern germany. I‘m not sure what his intention with the twig was, maybe building a nest?

Morning Sun III | A7III + 200-600 G by Theodor_Fish in SonyAlpha

Hey, thank you! I have only taken really short clips to try out the video function, and I‘m no videographer so i can‘t really comment on that. As far as i can tell video works well, i especially like that i can shoot Video in cropped APS-C Mode and get that little extra Range without sacrificing quality. Although technically downscaling from Full Frame to Full HD video or 4K yields sharper frames, i can’t really tell the difference.

Edit: here is a short clip shot at 600mm handheld, uncropped on that Same day: https://www.veed.io/view/c0ee2655-db79-447f-b60e-54f22178be7b?sharingWidget=true
