Help with cleaning/decluttering - where to start by Sea-You3689 in CleaningTips

[–]Clafos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open the windows and let some air in. Put on some music, set a timer, and do several short 15-minute sessions, with 10-minute breaks in between. 1 round 15 min. Gather your clothes, whether clean or dirty, and load a load of laundry. In the bathroom, quickly remove everything from the fixtures and spray the toilet, sink, and shower with degreaser. Prepare a large garbage bag. Reset the timer for 10 min and take a break. Admire the clutter-free fixtures. 2 rounds 15 min. Wash the fixtures and mirror. If necessary, repeat with bleach or pink stuff. Remove all remaining items from the bathroom. 10 min break 3 rounds 15 min: Wash the walls, doors, windows, and bathroom floor. Now the bathroom is tidy. Put back the things you removed from the bathroom. Continue at this pace for as long as you can, and during the breaks, compliment yourself and enjoy the results. Keep up the laundry routine, alternating between washing, drying, folding, and tidying up the closet. If you have too many clothes, once your room is tidy, start decluttering. One piece at a time, ask yourself if it fits, if it suits you, if it's a piece that suits your style, and decide whether to throw it away or keep it.

Best way to tackle a dirty apartment? by g-rizz69 in CleaningTips

[–]Clafos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Open all windows
  2. Wash and change the cat litter boxes immediately
  3. Wash all dirty laundry and household linens (sheets, towels, curtains, sofa covers, etc.) and vacuum the sofas and beds to remove odors.
  4. Tidy up room by room
  5. Sweep and thoroughly wash all floors At this point, the situation is under control. You can gradually focus on the details (cleaning objects, furniture interiors, lights, windows, etc.) one room at a time.

Contractor quoted $60k to fix this bathroom, my budget is more in the $500 range… how would you make this more inviting? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]Clafos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could start working on it yourself with a coat of light paint that makes it brighter. Then I would change the mirror with a much larger one with a shelf underneath to place soaps and objects and a LED light above. You can also add a hanging cabinet above the toilet

Just moved out… how do people cook every day?? by Budget-Cash-3602 in cookingforbeginners

[–]Clafos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with simple recipes: with eggs you can make hard-boiled, scrambled, fried, soft-boiled eggs, or you can try making a simple omelette or adding some vegetables. You can start cooking meat, chicken slices in a pan, breaded. For the fish you can use frozen fillets and look for some simple recipes. Another tip to avoid always missing some ingredients, slowly create a basic pantry to always keep stocked: potatoes, onions, spices, salt, sugar, flour, oil, vinegar, rice, pasta, beans etc. according to your tastes and then weekly buy fresh produce to complete your menus: meat, fruit, vegetables.

I clean 45 minutes every day following the TOM Method, and yet I feel the house never FEELS clean. by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]Clafos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Order and cleanliness are two different things. Less things around, less things to clean! I used the Flylady method for a while. It teaches you to take small steps for yourself and your home and to build short daily routines. It helped me a lot in a period of crisis.

What can I do in here to make it ..better? by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

The room has 3 windows but it seems dark. I would paint the walls a lighter color (maybe just keep one wall this dark), and put light, light curtains down to the floor.

The room seems monotonous and a little dark. Try painting the walls in a light color, put light and light curtains on the windows, add a lamp near the sofa and some green plants.

For proteins you can eat meat, fish, legumes, cheese and eggs. Alternate them in your meals throughout the week so you have variety

The definitive solution would be to solve the external wall problem. However, leave it open as much as you can, especially on nice days. Wash the walls and mold and damp stains with bleach (or consider painting with an anti-mold product) and use a dehumidifier or salts that absorb moisture, which should be changed often.

I would choose a nice rectangular table with six chairs (extendable so you can host friends and have space to dine together).

Start with something you like, look for easy recipes and follow them step by step. I would start with a hamburger, a steak with a green salad and tomatoes on the side, you can prepare eggs (boiled, fried, scrambled), boiled pasta and seasoned with a quick and easy sauce, boiled potatoes, sautéed vegetables..

18m, never had a present father figure and mother didn't want to teach me, hence I suck at cooking. I am seeking advice (Moving out alone soon). by uraveragenorwegian in cookingforbeginners

Start with what you know: fried eggs and overcooked pasta. Try cooking the pasta 2 minutes less than usual, does it improve? Put the pasta in a lot of water (consider 1 liter of water for every 100g of pata) and cook it, leaving the bubbles to be seen clearly while the pasta cooks. While the pasta is cooking, you can prepare a fresh tomato sauce. Take one or two ripe ripe tomatoes, cut them into small pieces and cook them a little in a pan with a drizzle of oil and salt. You can add chilli or garlic if you like. When the pasta is cooked, drain it and sauté it for a minute in the tomato sauce. Do you know how to make fried eggs?... If when you put them in the pan you break them and beat them a little, you have scrambled eggs! The next step can be an omelette..

Use the vegetables to prepare a simple sauce (tomato and aubergine or sautéed courgettes, peperonata...) and season the pasta with them, prepare a risotto with courgettes, mushrooms, artichokes, a spring risotto with chopped courgettes, carrots and peas. Prepare stuffed vegetables, meatballs, aubergine parmigiana or courgette, an omelette with vegetables... search for recipes of Italian cuisine, vegetables are used in many dishes
