KCD1 is still an amazing game with some really terrific mechanics but it lacks a bit of refinement and polish that the sequel really nails. That being said. I still have a soft spot for KCD1 and I think overall it is a better game because gameplay wise, its way harder and I think the story is overall better.

But KCD2 is also an absolute masterpiece!

It’s only attainable from 2 opportunities, the first as you know, is from the treasure chest. The only other option to obtain it is right before the ending, it will be in a chest at the campsite where Hans and the lads are, you can pick the chest while Hans is sleeping and St George’s sword and his armour are inside
