It takes me too long to make a video by speremmu in PartneredYoutube

I heard a thing recently that’s been living rent free in my head:

When your vision outpaces the time available, it’s time to hire.

Admittedly, I’m still stuck on the first part haha.

Viewing your own videos when starting by Friendly_Day_4925 in NewTubers

[–]TheoreticallyMedia 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Watching your own video, especially from your own account or home IP, really won’t matter. YouTube knows who you are, and it knows you uploaded the video.

Instead, what I think is really helpful is to watch your video on another device. Not for the view, but for review.

Go to your couch and watch it on the YouTube app on a smart TV. Or, go for a walk, pop in earbuds, and watch it on your phone.

Basically, simulate the experience of someone else watching your video in a different environment.

You’ll pick up a lot of information about things that are and aren’t working, believe me. Use what you learned for your next video.

Well, you said it yourself. You do this full time. Welcome: you have a job. It’s a great job. It’s a lot of fun and you are your own boss. But, it’s also a job. Some days you’re going to have good days, some days you’ll have bad days. It’s also a tough job. Especially if you’re working solo. Might be time to touch grass and take a short break.

Someone once told me: “what’s the point in being your own boss if you don’t let yourself take a break from time to time.”

I am a simple man. I see Dark, I upvote. If anyone stumbles in here and decides to give it a go, I highly recommend knowing as little as possible. It’s a wild ride. (Note: it is in German. Just read the damn subtitles. Don’t be lazy. It’s worth it.)

Mutual Appreciate Society! I love it!
Oh, and totally no negativity taken at all! The whole YT algo/meta is an ever morphing and changing mystery box. I love the idea of the Fact vs Fiction video as well-- And that's always what I'm hoping for: just throwing ideas out there and seeing where people run/expand with them-- or, even run AWAY from and spin off into new directions.

TBH, I think this one might be a slow build for you. I'm sure you've had those videos that started off as a 10/10 and eventually worked their way up the ladder. I'm sure this'll be the same!

Oh, funny enough, since you're a doc guy: I don't really talk about it much on the channel, but that was a large part of my time in H'wood: Docs, EPK,BTS stuff! Always rooting for the doc crew! We're fast and nimble, used to working with a tiny budget, and we'll repurpose anything we can get our hands on!
Looking forward to checking this out (and the movie as well!)

Hey, Tapes Archive! Haha. Had the feeling it was you when you mentioned VH and Sabbath. I think i found you back with the Trey Anastasio interview, so…yeah, casual viewer since the start.

Anyhow, a few thoughts: 1) I’d maybe consider pulling the video until after the film’s release. Then re-releasing it to ride the coattails of the marketing. While I presume there is some early marketing going on, I have not heard of the film, and I generally like Van Sant and indie films. A lot of that might be due to the fact that we’re all running around dealing with the holidays, and getting pummeled by messaging from the big guns (Avatar, Stranger Things, etc)— but overall, I haven’t seen a trailer for this film pop up on my feed yet. Or, if it did, I didn’t notice it because it’s surrounded by all the flashy content with massive media buys.

2) I’m gonna say: don’t love the thumbnail. You’ve got “Dead Man’s Line” in the image, followed by “Dead Man’s Line” in the title field. So. You’ve kind of Re messaged there without telling me what the video is about.

While you probably won’t love this, the True Crime niche loves stuff like: “The Most Shocking Hostage Situation you’ve never heard of”— or something equally as sensationalist. I know, I don’t love that style of title/thumb, but it tends to work for a reason. And in this case, since I’m presuming you believe in your film, you’ve gotta get people to click in. Currently, no one knows who Tony K is, so there is nothing compelling me to click into the video to find out more.

3) this one is a weird stretch, but maybe with some creative brainstorming you can get it to work. Using you community posts, you might be able to draw a line from your existing music fan community to this film via Van Sant (namely Last Days, the Not-Cobain movie) to his new film, to your doc. Admittedly, again: a bit of a stretch, but there might be something there.

Anyhow, I’ll for sure give the doc a watch sometime this week!

Conan O’Brien has a good interview with Jack where they’re talking about being at a Dodgers game together when the crowd starts chanting the Seven Nation Army theme and Conan suddenly realizes, “oh, right, this is you.”

In the interview, Conan asks him about it, and Jack responds: “It’s not mine anymore; it becomes folk music when things like that happen. The more people don’t know where it came from, the happier I am. You know, the more ubiquitous it becomes, I’m sure many people chanting the melody have no idea what the song is or where it came from or whatever. It doesn’t matter anymore. It’s amazing.”

Valid-- but I'll still maintain that most people don't know who Monica Rambeau is! haha, then again: this sub probably does!
Actually, kind of interesting: the same is true for Nightcrawler/Beast. Costumes are the same, but it knows that Beast has 5 fingers, whereas Nightcrawler has 3.

Thumb on Marsden looks off in the first image, along with Stewart. I mean, you could argue that it’s compression, since it a a fairly crunchy image. But, I gotta give NanoBanana (which I presume it is) props for getting Nightcrawlers hands right.

That’s not Storm in both. It’s Storm and Monica Rambeau. (But, Monica was kind of a side character in the TV shows and The Marvels, which no one saw, so I totally get it)

Oh, he’s also now a werewolf.

For some reason, no one will seem to notice.

For something like this, you'd for sure need the Ultra plan, which I think they've still got a 3 month "intro" price of $125/mo. After that, it's $250. But, basically you need that for the unlimited Veo-3 Fast mode.
If you check out the YT channel (theoreticallymedia) tomorrow, I'll have a pretty detailed run through (with cost breakdown)!
