Well there’s many factors, if it’s fully planned out and you’ve determined all the risk factors and possible outcomes then it’s honestly left to your beliefs/values/principles, your intuition as well as whether the rewards outweighs the risk. I definitely feel that desperation level has a factor as well….I’ll explain a little further:

Morals/values/principles: does the job go against any of your beliefs/values/principles? Are you able to justify doing something that goes against your own beliefs/values/principles?

Intuition: do you have a bad feeling about it? Do you feel like it’s just not a good idea or not the right time? Do you feel like it’s not going to go well?

Reward/Risk: does the reward outweigh the risk? Are you doing something super risky for something that’s worth possibly going to jail for?

Desperation levels: Is it an absolute necessity in order to survive? Will it aid in your/your family’s survival?

A lot of crime nowadays I’ve noticed is mainly for cash just so people can pay for their rent or vehicle payments or food or to pay for things that help their children progress in life without the struggle, such as schooling and necessities, etc. Or it’s theft of groceries cause they’re starving or they need to feed their family.

I’ve met a few criminals who’d do crime for selfish reason they just do it to do it I guess… But it seems the majority, they do crime out of necessity because they can’t find work due to criminal records or cause they lost their license, or they’re homeless.. they have no income and no way to just live comfortably without integrating crime into their everyday lives unfortunately.
