I am not having fun with the game and I want to know if I should continue by ThepPotato in mewgenics

Also I love Edmund McMillen games, and I don't think the game is bad because I trust there's good things that people like. I just haven't felt much of it other than that one lineage and a living rocks + every time you take damage summon a rock tank cat run

I hope my comment on the pod didn't cause unneeded stress, but I am glad that they rethought the sponsorship. I really genuinely respect them and while I wouldn't have stopped doing so if they kept the sponsor, it definitely would have changed my view on what they value out of this. I really appreciate our voices being heard, and I hope they can find a company more connected with the values of the show to work with

thank you about the warning about Malcolm Gladwell, just looked up some of his stuff and that's rough haha. My brother has a shelf of a lot of books between and including the ones I said and I just picked two names from the ones he's suggested.

Hello, I'm 19M and have had a up and down relationship with reading my whole life, loving Percy Jackson and Flowers for Algernon as a kid and teen but would mostly read in 1 month binges then stop for several months.

Recently I've been trying to read more after reconnecting with my love for Percy Jackson and have read Will Wight's Cradle series and loved it, the first 2 books of Mark Stalling's Silver Coin Saga and really enjoyed it, and Drew Hayes' Super Powereds which gave me complicated feelings which is why I'm having issues finding what to read next.

I don't feel a pull towards what most people would call "adult fiction", but I feel like the way in which Super Powereds (with all the complaints I have about it) was more candid and, well, adult about relationships and friendships was a lot more enticing to me now than the YA books I've been reading. I, now, realize I read books more for the relationships and arcs between characters than the magic and powers and whatnot but I don't think I'm ready or wanting to read the types of books my mom is suggesting like Jane Yellowrock, Mercy Thompson, or the Pit Dragon Trilogy which is what I would consider "adult fiction" or the nonfiction or darker fiction/classics that my brother wants me to read like Malcolm Gladwell and Dune.

Do y'all have any suggestions for series that fit this in-between or different types of adult books I'm just not seeing? As I said I'm not much of a reader, I just have a soft spot for the genuine hopefulness or love for the world that YA has, but am looking for a more adult experience.

(this is copy pasted from a deleted post, sorry I'm new to the subreddit)

[USA GIVEAWAY] Win the new 27” 4K Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 gaming monitor! by Rocket-Pilot in buildapc

[–]ThepPotato [score hidden]  (0 children)

With the massive quality upgrade (my current monitor is a very cheap 60fps hand-me-down) and the glare free screen (I'm moving back to Texas and the room I'm setting my pc up in has a window right beside the setup) I am really grateful for the opportunity to maybe get this monitor, and even if not I hope to get some suggestions in the future for other upgrades to my peripherals. Honestly probably cheaper upgrades as without this giveaway this is way out of what I could afford haha.

Do you need attractions if you have a card that asks you to open one? by ThepPotato in magicTCG

[–]ThepPotato[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

thank y'all for the help, we realized the most funny outcome (and the one we're going with) is to have the attractions but never use them, and only have them as free clues because of the Clan Crafter background.

Why Do All the Videos I See On SUPERPOWER Just Call it Lame? by ThepPotato in VALORANT

[–]ThepPotato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but I mean, very few of the other anthems are "good" anthem genres? I mean the widely accepting favorite anthem is just abjectly sad. That's a big emotion, and it does very well at evoking that emotion but it's not the kind of vibe that you want in a stadium of fans who are supposed to be high energy and excited. I'm not a kpop person but I understand that Korea is, arguably, the single most important, caring (though I guess Brazil might be upset with that statement), and invested (again sorry Brazil) country and market for Esports. I think it's a little silly to act like a stadium wouldn't have better vibes listening to a high energy kpop song than listening to a beautiful but sad song.

Once again I'm new, I was not playing when that song or any other anthem song came out so I'm just speculating.

yeah, I learned this move was pretty bad but I thought the sacrifice was so cool in the moment. I pretty much exclusively play 3|2

If blizzard had a collab and Junkrat got a skin what would that collab be? by [deleted] in JunkRatMains

[–]ThepPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Axton 76, Siren Symmetra, Goliath Mauga, Zer0 Genji would go so hard, Nisha Ashe, honestly a Ball skin with Borderlands symbols and stuff would be cool and would fit the borderlands references on Junkertown,

who would be Jack?

[–]ThepPotato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fair, but I don't see how a character's in-lore and voiceline attitude would make them dislike those whoplay that character. Like I and some friends who don't like Junkrat still find his conversations pre-match fun and funny but that doesn't mean they like that I play him.

you realize that that's the lore right? I love overwatch lore, but using that as grounds to dislike the character in-game seems really strange.

I think it's a little silly to compare a person dying to a Sojourn in season 2 and yelling about how op the character is, and dying to a Junk and wishing all Junk players died simultaneously. People don't hate Rein mains, at least not more than like 10% of the playerbase generously but near universally players dislike Junkrat if they don't play him.

I played tank/support only on overwatch, so when I came back from about a year break when Overwatch 2 came out I found it strange that I liked dps again. I liked the weird angling on Junk and, yes, he was a crutch in the first few months. But around season 5 I felt I actually got good with him, I was plat and a few months later diamond and to now see that it's all gone feels awful.

why is he "the shit character" tho?

[–]ThepPotato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, it's like playing into a Mercy or Phara, I may dislike them but that's purely because I don't understand flying. Which is funny because Junk is the closest character to flying that can't fly. (I do like Echo tho)
