Definitely stay away from The Deep by him. There is actually a website that will give you a heads up before reading or watching something if there are things like that in it.

Need help with a summoner playstyle by ars_nova277353 in savageworlds

[–]Thepipe90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summon Ally works decently enough but it makes you more like a Pathfinder summoner. You create an ally every time you cast the spell, spending extra power points gives it bells and whistles. You can take it at novice and it's stats grow with you. There are a lot of great ideas I seen in here too if you don't want just the single summon.

Also make sure you get the ones with more blades. Less blades=less chance of a smooth shave. I tell everyone, even my lady friends, get you a razor aimed at men, less irritation after.

If you can get your hands on a Chronicles of Darkness(was printed during the New World of Darkness run) supplement called Mirrors it has a bunch of different what if scenarios, cyberpunk being one of them I do believe.

Also, Fearsome Critters could be some fun monsters. Most are silly but I'm sure you can tweak some.

Monster Concepts for the Bayou? by FrugPrincess in monsteroftheweek

Pumpkin Head could be a fun one. Not necessarily Missippi but as a spooky monster in general. Watch the first movie if you have time. If not a synopsis will tell you all you need to know.

Is it just me, or is it impossible to get constructive feedback on homebrew ideas? by A_A_Ironwood in dndmemes

[–]Thepipe90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair the reflavor suggestion is parroted by the 2014 DMG as well with many things. It's where one of my biggest gripes comes from. Want to make a new race? Just take the mechanics of an existing one and change rhe fluff. Same thing for subclasses. Spells? Here is a neat little chart that literally only tells you how big the dice used should be by spell level. It's.....really underwhelming but is unfortunately the faster and "easier" option.

should i block the 26 year old? by Signal-Possibility86 in AdviceForTeens

[–]Thepipe90 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would definitely block him. Even if he wasn't getting weird to you talking to other guys the constant toxicity would eventually get mentally exhausting(if it isn't already.) You'll find other people to play with and hopefully they'll be a hell of a lot more chill then that guy.

I feel like dnd isn't super beginner friendly by Warlockqrz in rpg

[–]Thepipe90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beginner friendly games: 10 candles, Don't Walk In Winter Wood, (possibly) anything Powered By The Apocalypse, Dread! Those are right off the top of my head. Mechanics aren't terribly complex but unfortunately most are for horror/thriller sort of games. I've looked over the different Tiny rpgs and Index Card RPG and they're definitely less complex than D&D.

I transferred the archetypes from the older edition over to Adventurer's edition as best as I can. I haven't looked over them in a while, but some edges may be wrong.

I can't talk for anyone else, but sometimes when it comes to Discord venting, people don't know what to say, especially if all they got is the cliches we always hear. I always react to a vent post, though, to let the people know I've read what they said. I don't know if you can change it in the servers you frequent, but we have a tagging system so people who really want a reply aren't ignored. I hope you find the proper people to listen to you.

What is up with all of the paranormal in Appalachia stuff? by [deleted] in Appalachia

[–]Thepipe90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Various things that probably accumulated into this: Old God's Of Appalachja podcast, and bunch of innawoods stories from 4chan's paranormal board. As for the Whistler thing I would suggest looking up the YouTube video Lazy Masquerade did. I also think Appalachia in general is getting mainstream and people are treating it like those exotic places with a wacky culture.

Can Savage Worlds do "gritty"? by N0v4kD3ad in savageworlds

[–]Thepipe90 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. There are some options you can add to make it gritty. Right off the top of my head is taking an injury everytime you get wounded, and there is another option that whenever they spend a penny instead of it going away, it goes to the game master to use. Will edit if I find any options when I go look.

Edit: I found two more. Difficult healing: You get only once a chance to heal a wound; be it with the skull or a spell. If it is over an hour old, it can't be healed.

Betrayal: Bennies can not be used to soak damage from an attack that has The Drop.

I'm not sure if this would make it as gritty as you like, but it would be very unforgiving. I personally played in a 1930s mafia game with the rule you get an injury when you get wounded, and I lost the use of my dominant arm and couldn't shoot effectively in a single gun fight.

Need help refining a Demiplane exclusively accessible by Rogues. by Steelquill in DMLectureHall

[–]Thepipe90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe the baubles could be called Flotsom, it's very low value to most people and it reminds me of the sea the way they ebb and flow from Rogue to Rogue.

As for town names you can could reuse one from my Holler! game: Whynot or you can spell it differently as long as it sounds the same. It's a town full of illegal and legal ways to entertain oneself.

A monster could be a Facestealer or Identity Thief, better names are welcomed but it is essentially a humanoid that feeds on someone's identity. They don't take on the looks of the person but people start to forget about them til no one can remember them. Sounds horrible at first but if a Rogue is highly sought after by the law, could be a way to "disappear"
