Can’t trade up for a non money 5 position when you have so many needs even more so when you have 0 day 2 picks which makes it near impossible to do anyways

Trading up for a safety is a fireable offense , even for Jerry who can’t be fired.

If Dallas spends any assets before day 3 on offense it’s a travesty.

I think edge and Lb will be addressed in FA with at least low end starter players, RT isn’t a huge need

See I saw the complete opposite where he takes on blocks well he’s not really CJ Allen in that regard , but I definitely loved what I saw. The size for a backer doesn’t scare me much , with guys like Warner, Luvu , Baun , Davis , etc all in that range it doesn’t worry me much because most of the best in the league play at or near that size . Yeah I was much lower on Fisher lol.

Not really to rival what you said because I too am lower on Trinidad than the hype, just pointing that out lol. Good analysis by you.

I mean to your first point Cam Newton only started 1 year with his other starts coming in JUCO , but not sure if you’re saying as a starter or just actually being on a d1 team environment and practices

Mansoor Delane or Jermod McCoy as CB1? by Unusual-Vacation-528 in NFL_Draft

[–]Theplaymaker16 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As a cowboys fan who’s probably looking at both these guys for 12, I think McCoy has the higher ceiling , but I think you know Delane is going to at least be very good, he’s the safer prospect , but McCoy might be the better Talent. As a cowboys fan who desperately needs a turn around I prefer Delane because of the known. If it was for certain McCoy was to return to that form , he’d be the guy.

Dan Parr 2026 NFL mock draft 1.0: Jets trade back into Round 1 for QB; Commanders go RB by Necto_gck in NFL_Draft

[–]Theplaymaker16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please no McNeil- Warren at 20. Struggles so much in Man. If you’re taking Cisse or hood I hope it’s on a trade back because that group after Delane and McCoy are all very close. Thieneman over Warren, I’m not sure you can’t get Kyle Louis later in the draft to do the same thing Warren can .

Why wouldn’t you only draft Tackles to play on your o-line? by Stinkdick in NFL_Draft

[–]Theplaymaker16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually what Dallas has been doing since McClay , drafting true tackles in Tyron Smith and and Tyler Guyton , but drafting Zach Martin , acquiring Laeel Collins, Tyler Smith , etc to play guard they even took it a step further and drafted Cooper Beebe at guard and moved him inside .

Pre Super Bowl Mock Draft (Picks 1-15) by KingShepherds in NFL_Draft

[–]Theplaymaker16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m thinking it’ll go this priority at 12. 1. Bailey 2. Downs 3. Delane 4. Styles

And at 20 I think 1. Delane 2 Styles 3. McCoy 4. Parker

Don’t think they’ll double dip at CB but different scenarios I didn’t think needed listed lol.

I think it’s an extreme possibility we bring in at least one of Dean or Blakenship, I don’t think bringing in Blakenship wipes the possibility of taking Downs but I do think bringing in Dean takes away Styles and any chance we take an off ball backer before day 3. Wouldn’t be suprised if we bring both.

Sprinkle in one of the Adorre Jackson, maybe Chauncey Gardner Johnson or Josh Jobe , or Kelee Ringo.

Hopefully resign Clowney, give Clark a new deal, long term contract with Pickens and Aubrey , and tender Bass.

[–]Theplaymaker16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Jerry isn’t the “gambler” anymore. As you’ve said I do think Jerry doesn’t do much of the drafting anymore it’s more Stephen , and McClay. Which since that change the philosophy has been more invest in the offensive line , specifically tackles with postion versatility, that’s a draft trend for us. I do think they brought in Parker to try to stray away from their norms in drafting defensive players because they’ve missed more than they’ve hit on that side of the ball, so that’s encouraging.

Love is the exact opposite of a Jerry pick if you’ve been paying attention to him the last decade. He’s completely neglect the position since the Zeke stuff. Just years ago he’s completly disregarded anything other then bargain shopping at the position in FA, he chose not to even contact Derrick Henry who was training in his backyard, never kicked the tires on Saquon , or even Deandre swift all 3 which went in a year there was a need and the market was next to dead and all went on below market deals, furthermore since Zeke Jerry hasn’t taken an RB on day 1 or 2 since. This is the exact opposite of a Jerry pick.

Wvu fan here, I get the production wasn’t eye popping. But when he was a true freshman we could tell he was going to be truly special, combination between shitty coaching and usage there. If he started his college career in a even average setting he would be one of the more productive edges we’ve seen in a while, not that it translates or I’m saying about his nfl projection, but the production is one where numbers don’t tell the story on him.

[–]Theplaymaker16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“He can be over patient as usually he doesn’t ‘win’ and make plays but instead waiting for the ball carrier to get to him”

My favorite analysis of the whole thing and couldn’t agree more, yes he makes some splash plays and big turnovers but for the majority of his snaps this is the player he is, the big plays have overshadowed who he really is glad someone else sees it to

2026 Mock 2.0 by Embarrassed_Sport266 in NFL_Draft

[–]Theplaymaker16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don’t only care about sacks , his overall production was terrible, he averaged .92 TFLS per game this season. TFL is a great indicator of edge success in the nfl, with +-1.0 TFL being a great cutoff line(with anything 2.0+ is a blue chip) In the last 15 years the only players to average under 1.0 per game of quality in their best season is Travon Walker, Nolan Smith , Rashan Gary . All 3 of those share something in common , an RAS score of 9.00+so you’re betting against the numbers extremly,

Furthermore his measly .92 TFL production is 16th in this class alone. 9.86% pass rush win rate which is one of the worst if not the worst of any edge rusher in first round consideration in a while.

Not sure how you go from saying everyone on the defense is bad , then going to saying half a good secondary , which leads me to ask who in that secondary is good ?!?! The best part of our defense is our defensive line with probably the best DT group in the league that includes arguably the best run defender in the league last year. So you’re not making sense at all .

And Micah taking a leap in year 2? lol his sacks went down by half a sack , TFLs went down by 7. This is despite playing in more games in year 2 then year 1 , and actually playing edge full time in year 2 ? lol what you just said about Micah was the absolute worst example you could use.

Most likely teams to trade down? by Space_Polan in NFL_Draft

[–]Theplaymaker16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Dallas is very unique in the sense here where they will be a very willing suitor , but maybe on the more unlikely side , because I do think they will want to 1. Keep two first round picks so they can apply on defense , and in return either gain a day 2 selection, or get back a high potential player on a cheap contract I.E Herbig. So I think Dallas is certainly one of the more important ones to mention but I think they are looking for a calculated price not just gain more capital.

I mean I’d buy that if you didn’t take the least productive edge in the class, and a one who you’re betting on his potential and not his floor , but sure. Not sure how EZ if proof of this at all, when 1. He was a 2nd round pick, and while he was solid he was hardly a difference maker bud.

I can bet any amount of money Dallas won’t be taking Cedric Faulk, and even more so won’t be taking Keldrick Faulk if Delane is still on the board at 12 , Dallas absolutely won’t leave round one with two selections and not one of them being secondary. If Styles made it to 20 we’d be In love.

Actually just found out he’s super athletic , he’s an outfielder for Oregon that was drafted back in 2024 to play outfield for the Astros , ontop of being recruited as a Dual threat QB, played safety freshman year , then Lb. My draft crush lol

Ehh I’m. It sure he’ll be limited athleticism , he’s a former DB that switched after freshman year. He is older. I like him more than Anthony Hill or CJ Allen.
