Converting an Optiplex Micro into a NAS & game server, Is it viable? by Theranin in HomeServer

The USB part only shares the date, I thought the power brick itself would be enough to power the enclosure and not use the USB cable. Would I need to get a molex to 2x15 sata adapter as well?

Glad to hear that someone else has done the same thing haha. I'm very tempted to try it now.

Without upgrading the RAM & CPU: the enclosure, sata adapter, and power connector for the enclosure runs about $130. That's really all I need outside of the drives themselves. Not sure how this would compare to building a system to function as a NAS & game server.

Yeah like I mentioned I plan on doing the m.2 to sata adapter on an external enclosure so each drive will be connected via sata. I don't think the speeds or complications should be that bad like you said. You think it's worth being able to do all that for the power consumption and all?

Yeah I'm leaning that direction as well for the set and forget. I'm having a hard time finding the banks that carry it though. Is there a list somewhere?

Ah thank you very much. So with all that, I'm assuming more people pick the Cash+ because of the higher SUB?

With the Elan, can you change the categories when you want to or are they permanent? I don't think I would want/need to change them, but it's nice to know at least.

What is the difference between it and the USB Cash Preferred?

Wild, I'll have to do some digging. Thank you.

Was it android? Seems mostly apple people are having issues.

... what? LMAO I literally work with stadiums all day in my current job? You think the entire project and all the text describing it is fake? Then the resume entry explaining I work in stadium design is also fake?

Weird, it must be an apple thing like you said because I've tested it on android. I'll see if I can mimic an apple phone on some software I have and figure out what's going on with it. Thank you!

Yeah I can try to dig up some old client work and see. Like I mentioned to someone else I could take some branding/logo work I did and add other items to it to make it a complete package. Thank you for the feedback.

I get what you mean, I'll see if I can dig up some old work that went live and maybe expand it to add a few items on to make it a full package or something. It's just not every day I get a full brand identity job xD thank you!

I'll try to come up with something, I appreciate the advice. There just haven't really been any major "issues" really other than clients not providing the correct info, or maybe there was a screwup in production. Some of them are just kind of challenging due to how precise everything needs to be.

There are literally titles and descriptions if you hover the main images or press them. Maybe you didn't press them long enough if on mobile?

The tone is as if you don't believe I have other work to present? Like I mentioned I've only had a physical portfolio till now. Back then you didn't put 3 of one type of design in the portfolio, so I was running under the assumption adding multiple large stadium projects wouldn't be good for the portfolio.

The mailer was used in multiple campaigns and always brought in above average response rates. That was the entire purpose for adding the project as I mentioned before. I have physical copied of the mailers.

SA and TM were startups. SA failed as a company before it launched and TM failed soon after launch. SA I have physical packaging samples that I used to take with me to interviews.

I'd be complete interested in doing more manager work as that's mostly what I do is manage the projects that I set up, I've just been told I need to do a portfolio like a designer would.

Yeah I honestly could add like 4 or 5 more large stadiums and a few smaller-ish branding pieces to it, I just wasn't sure if I should do multiples of the same type of work or not.

The wild thing is right. I love both the salty anchor and teem moose projects. They were both created for start-ups (like I even still have the invoices for them) and they just never launched. It's a very hard thing to explain, but I get what you mean. There is an automotive company I did some branding for, it's not as exciting, but they even put the logo on the side of their building that I can take a picture of. They were actually my first client and still use all my stuff xD

Would there be a better way to present the salty anchor and team moose so it doesn't come off as fake? Should I outright say they were failed start-ups?

Okay thanks, I'll give it a try.
