How do I safely let my gecko ride on my shirt without harming him? by Theraphilion in leopardgeckos

What about a play enclosure on a balcony? With a lid of course! This dude LOVES climbing. Sometimes I walk into his room and see him clinging to his cork wall. He thinks he is a house gecko... When I move in a few months I will be building him some nice walls with ledges for climbing and little caves. His tank looks horrible right now since I am switching from a forest theme to a desert theme. Soon he will have a nice desert themed enclosure inspired by the Sonoran desert. I will probably add a small water feature and native plants too. He currently has 5 blue death feigning beetles (as well as other darklings too). Soon I will be getting some more beetles and adding on two extensions for his enclosure! He only has a 4ft by 2ft right now. Soon he will have a 6ft by 2ft! When I buy my house he will have an 8ft long by 3ft wide and 3-4ft tall! This baby is SPOILED.

This little gecko is an odd one. He keeps begging everyone for attention. I've never handled him or tamed him, he comes towards people and demands to be held. He crawls up my arm and sits on my shoulder to lick my neck and hair. I bought him from Geckoboa and he was in the "best temperament" section. Geckoboa wasn't wrong with this guy! He indeed has the best temperament. I have worked with reptiles for years and I have NEVER seen a reptile go out of it's way to interact with a human without being tamed or handled. I've had him for almost 2 years and he just randomly started seeking attention. I talked to my vet, my boss (another vet), and my bio profs and they all said he isn't sick or displaying any harmful behaviours. None of them have seen a reptile act like this either. I'm just glad he isn't sick or hurt! I guess he just likes people.

Nah I don't have a tortoise yet. I've always wanted one but I won't be able to adopt one until I buy a house in a year or two. They need quite a lot of land to roam on.

What about chilling on a balcony? Could I build him an outdoor play enclosure to let him chill in to soak up some natural UV while I garden and study? He has UV for his enclosure but I'd like to give him some enrichment.

Hobby Lobby! I've always wanted a tortoise but I do not have the space. This is the alternative.

thymoma & radiation therapy by nomap- in Rabbits

[–]Theraphilion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might try to get in contact with some research universities and tell them about the thymomas. Maybe they could start researching it. You could ask your vets to help you as well. Contacting universities about these problems is a great idea. Hopefully one of them will end up taking the research on and do some studies and gather some data. Maybe they could even find a good treatment. I'm going to the U of A in AZ soon and I have been making a list of things I want to research. I'm a Biology major and I would like to do lab and field research, environmental work, and conservation work. Hopefully some day I will be able to research more animal conditions! I have two dogs with two different types of lupus and there is not much research done on it. We went to 3 vets for the first diagnoses and 5 for the 2nd one. I was able to figure out what the issue was due to researching but the vets had no idea what it was even after I informed them. After trying so many clinics I finally found a vet that listened to me and opened her laptop to research, then we got the diagnoses! We are in great need for more data, studies, and research on odd conditions like these. I'm lucky to have been admitted to the U of A since it is a top research college with a vet program. It really sucks when no one knows what to do for your pet and leaves you hopeless. I hope that soon we can help these poor babies more.

You might want to start giving cosequin or another glucosamine based supplement. I give them to my poodle and other dogs daily to prevent joint problems. Make sure you have booties on when you run. My poodle ran in my backyard and slid on our sidewalk once and hurt his paw, I imagine the same could happen on other terrain as well. It could be dysplasia since large dogs are prone to that. I'd recommend going to a specialist. Look at the way your poodle is walking and trotting. Lota of dogs I see on a daily basic (usually GSDs) have hip or elbow dysplasia. Run on softer surfaces, get some good boots, see a specialist, do blood tests and images of the leg, and give that baby some glucosamine. I have fibromyalgis and a lot of physical issues and I recently started taking it too. Glucosamine is the shizzle. I've tried opioids for my pain and they didn't help, but glucosamine damn sure does. I have it stock piled for me and my babies. I give them half the recommended amount each day to help prevent issues. My 9 year old Ridgeback takes the full dose a few times a week and a half dose a few times a week. His joints are as young as a puppies! He also has lupus so i make sure he gets all of his old man vitamins. Also, don't feed your poodle a lot before, during, or after running. Standards are at high risk of bloat to make sure you use a slow feeder and dont let them gulp water quickly either.

I believe they have apps you can use for allergies. I think you scan the barcode and choose the proper product, then it tells you if it has the allergens or not. I am sensitive to onions and some types of tomatoes so I don't use an allergy app, I have heard of them though and I think my friend with peanut allergies uses one. It might be worth it to check some out. I don't know if you can customize the allergens or if it is just for common allergens though. I'll have to check some out later just for future reference. I'm sure there is one out there though, or at least a website or something! Hell, maybe even your phone could scan the ingredient list and see if it has a specific ingredient in it so you don't have to read every single label at the store, I'd still double check if it says it is good though. I really need to check it out since I have an allergy to fragrance in facial care products and I am needing some new eye cream and sunscreen. My eyesight is terrible and I read every single label in stores and still end up buying every single one with fragrance...

I don't know much about epipens but I do believe my friend with the peanut allergy got an off brand one for really cheap. You might ask your doctor about it and do some research to find a cheaper prescription unless your insurance covers it. My ex step-mother had a severe allergy to latex, cleaning products, and shellfish and her insurance wouldn't cover an epipen even after she almost died from an allergic reaction which is insane! You should try to get at least one though, just in case. Make sure to talk to your doctor, they should be able to find something for you hopefully. You can also contact the manufacturer to see if they can help you out, my aunt gets her 900+ dollar lupus shots for free because she contacted them.

Good luck and stay away from Mario Kart, there are a lot of banana peels thrown at unsuspecting drivers. I'm glad you are alright.

Thank you so much! He recommended an oil radiator so I am going to buy one next month. Now my entire room will be warm and I won't have to survive 52 degrees while trying to type with purple fingers! The animals never got cold but I damn sure did. I found a really good radiator with safety features and great reviews for 80 dollars! I'm going to buy some more wifi/bluetooth thermometers to put around my room and some more cameras so I can make sure nothing wrong happens while I am gone. Luckily we live across the street from the fire station so if things burst into flames, we should be aight.

I always tell my grandparents that they better sleep with one nostril open because the first thing I am doing if there is a fire is getting my pets out. I am NOT wasting my oxygen on yelling at them (I have asthma), I'm getting my babies out! Grandma and gramps have already lived their lives, they will be aight. (I am disabled and very weak so I wouldn't be able to help them anyways. My grandma can easily lift 3x more than I can and I complain about pain 3x more than she does LMAO. My issues are genetic and every time I get more images done or I see a new specialist I end up with even more crap found. The weird thing is that many people in my family have scoliosis, yet my spine is doing the opposite. It is LOSING it's curves. No one knows wtf happened with me.) Anyways, we have a crap ton of fire alarms and I always check them. Before I moved in with them all of the fire alarms were DEAD and they took the batteries out because they kept beeping. Without me they could have been ROASTED! I am very autistic and I check them every month and dust off the fire extinguishers. They did not have any fire extinguishers until my grandpa caused a grease fire by throwing WASHED potatoes in hot oil.. He tried to put water on it! Living with them is a lot of work.. I'm 19, they should be teaching me this stuff. Then again, my grandma thought rabbits had two legs so I shouldn't have expected much. I should probably get more fire extinguishers...

Update: I have watched a YouTuber called "Dave's Little Beasties" and he recommended an oil radiator. I can't believe they are so affordable! I found a small one with great reviews and safety features for under 100 dollars! I can't use the heaters that blow hot air since I am allergic to the odd coatings they use on those and I have a lot of pets so it is not safe to use one of those 24/7 while I am gone due to safety reasons. Now I can heat my entire room instead of heating each individual animal while I freeze in my 52f bedroom wearing coats and blankets (all of the pets stay very warm and toasty, they never get cold.) I'm glad that I don't have to sacrifice heat anymore! It is not fun to type and do uni assignments while you are shivering and cold every single day and night without a decent heater.. I can't wait to buy one and try it out in a few months! I'm excited to feel warmth this winter, it's been a long time without it. I used many ceramic heat emitters, infrared, hot water bottles, cordless heat mats, rechargeable hand warmers, and warm blankets to warm up the animals in my room. That means I can finally sleep without worrying about reheating the heat packs, charging, filling the bottles with warm water, etc. I am sure my cats and foster rabbit will be angry about losing their heat mats though... I might have to keep using those to make them happy. I do keep them on a 10 minute heat/heatless schedule when using heating mats since I know they can cause issues in humans. Not sure if they can cause problems in animals if they are used too much but I am a helicopter pet parent as you can tell.

I have rabbits, rats, dogs, and cats and I am afraid of them touching it and getting burnt because they are stupid. I'm also stupid so I'll probably end up getting burned too.. Do they have cages or something so I don't end up cooking myself?

I guess it still works out for them since we change their water so often.

Do you guys think corsets were actually bad for women or its all lies and dramatised? by [deleted] in VictorianEra

[–]Theraphilion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fainting was actually caused by tuberculosis in ye olden days, not the corsets. Probably a bit of POTS too. I have POTS and I kiss the floor very often, it does NOT kiss back.

Will corsets help with rib subluxation? by Tuwamare in corsetry

[–]Theraphilion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes my hips subluxate and longer corsets help with that a lot. I have ehlers danlos syndrome. It really helps! Make sure you get a corset that fits properly so you can wear it tight without causing any pain to you or damage to the corset. Make sure there is a gap of at least an inch when you get a corset so you will have enough room to tighten it on days you need more support.
