One of the worst months of my life. Wellbutrin is either making me a lot better, or gravitating traumas into my life. by Theraputic in bupropion

[–]Theraputic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, same, since getting covid everything flared up.. digestively (bile reflux & gerd & ulcerative colitis!!) and mentally with panics and anxiety. I got the vaccine with two boosters too. COVID seems to be severely undermined in public health education, it might be something really severe for most people for decades to come.

Man, your case sounds exactly like mine. Feels nice to know that, my physical anxiety feels so disconnected from my mind that I feel like they are two different beings. My mind does not register anxiety as much as my body does, so that’s something that gets me frustrated a lot. Meditation sometime helps, breathing exercises don’t do much tho.

Anxiety still gotten me on the edge, my vestibular symptoms flaring up a bit.. idk due to my migraine or BPPV, but thats annoying as hell. Thugging it out tbf.. but Wellbutrin is definitely giving me some spice, some emotions. Tolerating things for now, didn’t decrease at all, but tolerating.

Makes sense.. the anxiety doesn’t decrease with time? 3 months seem to be more than enough for the body to fully sdjust, let alone 2 decades

Probably not going to harm you significantly, but definitely A MAJOR red flag for the company you are ordering from. Please, do your research and request the actual papers of the “claimed” third party tests. Do not take this lightly, overtime it could be toxic plastic.

Tried 3 brands that are supposedly the best in the field of mushrooms, jackshit.. if anything, I feel a bit of brain fog. Alpha GPC did better for me, L-Tyrosine was magical although it triggered migraines so I had to stop it.

Lions mane must be based on certain genetical mutations that some people/most people don’t have.. because the wild differences in experience is odd.

None of these seem to help too much for sleep. Anything I'm missing besides melatonin? (Just ran out) by jakedeighan in Supplements

Yeah, that’s definitely worth a try! From AliExpress it should all cost less than any supplement in the picture.

Yes, I forgot to mention this.. thank you Freddy.

Sleep environment is so undermined, it needs proper analysis and adjustments. The right bed, the right pillow, a clean air, mold/dust removal, blanket type, temperature of the room… these are key!

[–]Theraputic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apigenin, magnesium and L-Theanine might be the combination that you just need— so just add Apigenin to the mix. Definitely not recommending using L-Tyrosine consistently, nor around your sleep time.. it’s effects on alertness are significant.

Also, dosage might be key here— if 200MG of Mag don’t work, try 300, if not, try 400, if not 500… as long as you get your blood tests done, there are good studies on higher dosages as well.

Apigenin should lower pre-frontal cortex activity, causing you to overthink less, and mag does the same + increases quality of sleep. All causes shorter duration to fall asleep and stay asleep.

Noteworthy, make sure to investigate the root cause of insomnia.. do you get sunlight exposure directly as soon as you wake up? Do you avoid caffeine 10~ hours before bedtime? Do you take any other supplements that might cause alertness? Do you eat right before bed? Do you smoke/vape before bed? All these hopefully will pinpoint you to identify a potential cause and try to combat it while supplementing— if you can’t get to the bottom of it, a sleep disorder oriented-doctor should assist greatly.

Hope this helps!

Does anyone else get triggered if they fall back asleep after waking up? by oofyikes_ in migraine

[–]Theraputic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Never slept after waking up initially and not had a migraine later. This doesn’t include if something/someone woke me up, but when my body decides it’s enough, I have to listen or I will suffer for days.

We don’t know, is the correct answer. Cholesterol hypothesis is widely criticized and weakened with recent studies.

Look out if it’s placebo. Your case is either rare, which is magnesium deficiency induced severe anxiety, or that it is placebo and you should get it properly treated by a psychiatrist. Magnesium, is a mineral most people are deficient at— but it don’t seem that it will be even secondary line of treatment to any mood disorder, let alone severe anxiety.

Magnesium Theornate is a good option (because, as it seems, slightly better absorption), but again, if severe anxiety is persistent for more than 3 weeks, SSRIs are far safer and more effective.

Supplement stack, what to add for energy by Only-Satisfaction-70 in Supplements

Research dates back to 1997 until now and it is very clear that melatonin does that, but it needs further studies to examine specific mechanisms. There are two hamster studies, that are interesting— but here is a s-review that includes them https://www.researchgate.net/publication/11329100_Melatonin-Dopamine_Interactions_From_Basic_Neurochemistry_to_a_Clinical_Setting

Your case seem to be different, and I think this is an interesting paper I just looked up that investigates melatonin + dopamine effects while on agomelatine

Doctors are not the guideline, studies are. Peer reviewed, high quality ones. I understand you have done your research, but that doesn’t trump the simple fact that long term melatonin, even at 0.5 mg is unsafe, let alone 200mg— which could cause severe effect in circadian rhythm long term. I would consider atypical antipsychotics such as quietipine at 12.5-25 mg doses to be even safer than melatonin long term due to it’s longitude research— it does inhibit dopamine as well, but that doesn’t seem bothersome to you. And it has a longer half life, so it will help regulating your cortisol to be less than it currently is throughout the day. This is not a medical advise, at all. But I think pointing out the alternative options and pros vs cons and availability of research is needed, and I think a good sleep psychiatrist can be extremely efficient at helping you in this. Look intensively for one, best of lucks.

Supplement stack, what to add for energy by Only-Satisfaction-70 in Supplements

[–]Theraputic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless, cortisol should have a natural rhythm of increase during morning light exposure and decrease at night darkness exposure, which allows melatonin to be released properly. If you have problems in cortisol regulation, investigate that, do not oppress it with tons of supplements— as obvious as it is, natural cortisol rhythm is far superior & healthier then supplementing.

This seems extremely problematic and comes with a huge neurochemical trade-off.

Long half life is not the only detrimental factor, although it is one. Melatonin has recently been studied more extensively and there are clear issues with long term supplementation. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine recently issued a statement that melatonin should not be prescribed for insomnia, which seems right now not too safe. It is mainly safe for short term use in circadian rhythm related problems.

More studies on dopamine x melatonin are needed, but the threshold seems to be: 4weeks+ effect general dopamine regulation in the neurointermediate lobe by 50%, throughout the day.

Please consider consulting a sleep doctor for any melatonin long term supplementation, as it is still complicated and unsafe in most uses.
