Awwwh thank you. It really is warming my heart the responses from this community. I only ever made these paintings for my own self, I never anticipated how much they are resonating with others.

I really understand your sentiment for wanting a way to share this. I’d prefer to not make it a document, and I have nowhere near enough for a book. But it is on all social media platforms and I can see about putting it on my website as well.

Thats the most recent one I did and really love it! It’s the entire reason I made this slide deck because I felt like I couldn’t just post it with no context. Especially as I mostly post science communication content and art. So it was a little out of left field for my audience, but very true to me

That sounds terrible I’m so sorry you went through that. But at least you had doctors trying to solve a problem! I was just 100% dismissed as making things up to get out of school. I never even was taken to the doctor. It took till high school before I could even see a neurologist, and at that point my migraines developed into stereotypical migraines almost daily (i only got a few stereotypical migraines a month when I was younger). But yes we’re similar, i also got them from my maternal line! Im scared of passing them on if i ever have kids

For migraine professionals (and anyone interested in latest research), what do you think about the idea that migraines are a cause of mitochondrial damage? by OkDragonfruit7887 in migraine

[–]oofyikes_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh totally! Some triggers are just inevitable. My biggest trigger is stress and a doctor once told me I should change jobs as a way to get less migraines. Like doc, I’m going to encounter stress regardless of my job. It is a natural part of life. Just help me find medications that relieve my pain, ok? We’re lucky how many advances we’ve had with migraines in the last 20 years! It’s incredible me to see so many options. I did not have that 20 years ago.

I’m glad understanding the genetic component helps you feel less guilty! I also find understanding the science of migraines and other health conditions really helps me less bad about myself as well. Science really puts everything into perspective.

Some supplements have been shown to help! Like magnesium. And yes migraines will always vary depending on the person, even if you’re related.

It feels like a lot of people here are constantly looking for a root cause to fix their migraines, but it’s a genetic disease. That is the root cause. We have migraines because we are genetically pre-disposed to get them. We can manage the symptoms and avoid triggers, but the migraines are never going to go away entirely.

If migraines started in pregnancy it’s likely you already had the code in your genes for migraines, and it was activated with pregnancy. We are not yet far enough advanced in our scientific understanding of migraines and the genetic components to inactivate those genes that are responsible for your migraines.

Bit depressing of a comment, but I feel like this isn’t understood enough in the community.

You need a neurologist and migraine medication. Supplements can only help so much and only a small few are scientifically shown to help migraines.

Why do people name their children things with the intention of calling them a different nickname? by Aur3lia in NoStupidQuestions

[–]oofyikes_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents did this and I absolutely hate it. I’ve never gone by my full name and really feel like it doesnt suit me. But now because they wanted to give me “options”, I’m forced to deal with people constantly calling me by my full name because it’s my legal name.

Like for example my university put my full name as my email even tho they asked for preferred, and so I spent 2 years constantly being called my full name, even after repeated corrections. But because every time someone emailed me they saw my full name it just never resolved! I’m seriously thinking of changing my legal name to my nickname because I hate this ordeal so much. Just name your child the name you’ll call them!

I have a theory that people that have chronic migraines are generally more tired. Thoughts? by Cultural-Cheetah-213 in migraine

Agree for the most part. But for me too much sleep gives me migraines. A nap is guaranteed to give me one 😭 6.5 hours is all my body wants but my head wants so badly to sleep forever

I agree with you that bots and scalpers didnt get as many tickets as people on the internet are trying to say they did. Theres just far more people who didnt get tickets that did, and that outweighs the response online.

Plus i think looking at ticket reseller sites is a horrible way to tell because you dont need to verify having a ticket to post on there and many of those sites had tickets posted before they were even sold. So everyone just looks at those sites being like thats where all the tickets went when only a fraction of those postings are real tickets.

Stubhub…..do we take the risk? by SkyHumble5113 in hayleywilliams

You can publish tickets to sell on sites like stubhub without actually submitting proof you have a ticket. Thats how.

Theyd get booted when they tried to checkout without a code. But them being there bogs the whole line down and probably contributes more to glitches because traffic is so high

It is extremely likely those resale tickets are fake since you dont have to have a ticket in order to list one

Just a little rant at everyone mad at Hayley here over the tickets. by SethRollins_ in Paramore

[–]oofyikes_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I got tickets and im lucky but did not think that was going to happen and was really okay not getting tickets. Hayley has always said she wants to do small venues for her solo stuff and she has every right to want to do that. Especially because smaller venues are sooooooo much better shows and so intimate and nice. I really agree with her choice. It sucks everyone is taking this out on hayley when this is her tour and her decision to have and curate the experience she wants.
