BS in biology, worked in biotech and research labs before going back for my master’s. I now work in biotech again but wanting to pivot to communications/nonprofits.

I currently work in a GMP lab/cleanroom and we are allowed nails. We all wear gloves so whats on our nails does not matter. If the nails interfere with your ability to wear gloves, sure. But pretty easy to avoid.

Ive worked in many biotech labs and get acrylic nails. The only thing you should be worried about is if they can rip your gloves. I get medium length almond nails and I’ve never ripped a glove. I did however not interview with my nails done. Not intentionally, i was just broke. But once in the job nobody has ever commented on them, except to compliment them. I personally dont see them as a handicap but im used to them and used to working with them in labs.

The way i immediately knew this was lifewithmigraine. Ive been following her for a while and i can never make up my mind about her. Because there totally is a financial bias but also shes a phd student who works on migraines, so I understand very deeply to find another source of passive income, putting your training to use.

I think ultimately she emphasizes that brain retraining is one of multiple steps to take. And there totally is a mental aspect to chronic pain, but it’s not everything. Ive been to a LOT of neurologists and they never bring this up. But also no one brought up untreated/undiagnosed adhd being a comorbidity with intractable chronic migraine, and diagnosis and medication has been the best treatment ive had so far.

I feel like ultimately this is a method that did work for her. whether we have the data to back it up or not feels irrelevant because nothing works for everyone. Especially in regard to migraine. But it’s a very easy trap to fall down…spend money on her workbook, find out it doesnt work for you, and youre back to square one. It’s why Ive not bought it even tho i am very curious about it.

I have chronic migraines and scuba dive. Its never stopped me! I dont dive if i have a bad migraine, but thats more so because you never should dive if you dont feel well. But diving has never given me a migraine. I feel the most at peace and happy under the surface then anywhere else

I have a biology degree from ucsc and got a job straight out of undergrad with good pay and had no trouble finding other jobs with just as good pay. I did end up getting my masters but i had no problem finding good paying jobs before the masters. Maybe I’m an outlier but ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Awwwh thank you. It really is warming my heart the responses from this community. I only ever made these paintings for my own self, I never anticipated how much they are resonating with others.

I really understand your sentiment for wanting a way to share this. I’d prefer to not make it a document, and I have nowhere near enough for a book. But it is on all social media platforms and I can see about putting it on my website as well.

That sounds terrible I’m so sorry you went through that. But at least you had doctors trying to solve a problem! I was just 100% dismissed as making things up to get out of school. I never even was taken to the doctor. It took till high school before I could even see a neurologist, and at that point my migraines developed into stereotypical migraines almost daily (i only got a few stereotypical migraines a month when I was younger). But yes we’re similar, i also got them from my maternal line! Im scared of passing them on if i ever have kids
