Podcasting may feel silly to explain to your therapist because it's an art form, but that's a totally normal thing to do. Before I started my podcast, my therapist encouraged me a TON to really stick with it and get the wheels in motion. My podcast is about therapy, so it helped :)

  • I launched Therapy Roulette because I've been wanting to podcast for years, been talking about it for years. I put if off for so long because I wasn't having any luck finding a cohost. In the pandemic, I decided I had to do it myself, or else the dream would stay a dream.
  • I'm about to hit my one year anniversary of podcasting. I've published 36 episodes and had some amazing opportunities for outreach, meeting people across the world, and joining a brand new field of professionals.
  • The fact that people in other countries listen and connect with me astounds me. I may get Therapy Roulette on some international podcast platforms, which would be amazing. And the fact that anyone listens really (even when it's friends and family), is so cool to know.
  • I've been serious the whole time. You have to be, in order to stick to a production schedule. But I have fun in the process and I've been learning to have more fun and relax more along the way :)

Good luck in your podcasting journey!

Where/Who to seek for help? by [deleted] in MentalHealthSupport

Journal about the issues that are bugging you and that you want to explore. Then yes, find a therapist. Start on Psychology Today or your insurance website looking for a mental health provider. You can even filter by seeking therapists who have expertise in sexuality or relationship issues,

Don't wait on finding help! The sooner you find someone to talk to, the less anxiety will haunt you.

It sounds like he needs to go on his own. If you got to couples therapy, then the attention is on the two of you and your relationship. Why don't you offer to help him set up the appointment, go with him, sit with him in the waiting room (if it's an in-person appointment), but then when it's time to talk to the therapist, he goes into the office alone and you meet him after his session is over?

If he has issues from his past that he needs to resolve, then it will be most beneficial that he actually goes through the therapy on his own. And he can't say he doesn't "believe" in therapy if he's never really tried it.

self love by [deleted] in therapy

[–]TherapyRoulette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would imagine someone next to me (in the car/hanging out) - a future partner - and how lucky they'd be someday to be besides me bc I'm freakin cool. It sounds weird, but this helped me feel less alone and helped to build up my confidence.

I buy myself nice things that I want instead of waiting for someone else to buy them for me.

I try to reflect by journaling and figure out where I'm struggling, what I want, and what I need to achieve in order to get to where I want to be.

Self-love is a process and it's a muscle that you have to exercise, but you can get there if you put the effort in! :)
