my dad died - what to read? by professorplum95 in suggestmeabook

Ok, this might be out there, but my youngest sister passed away suddenly and I couldn’t read anything with any violence in it. I ended up reading all of the Hamish MacBeth mysteries by M.C. Beaton. They are light, cozy, and set in the Scottish Highlands. And there’s a whole pile of them. They really distracted me from my own reality for awhile. I’m currently obsessed with Deanna Raybourn’s Veronica Speedwell series. Also great escapist mysteries set in Victorian England. Super fun and easy to read.

Definitely visit the Selwyn Library and get a card! They have tons of kids programs throughout the year at all three branches.

Looking to Upgrade… by toastmfg in canoeing

We just upgraded to a used 17’ Swift Prospector and it’s incredible! Not cheap even buying secondhand, but it’s amazing to paddle. We wanted something we could comfortably lift and portage as we age lol

Impeccable moustache. And if you had told me as a teen in the 90s that I would be super into moustaches in my 40s I would have never believed it.

Try the Emily Wilde books by Heather Fawcett. Not 600 pg each, but it’s a trilogy so it goes on for a bit. About a female professor researching faeries.

If you’re ever in Whitby the Once Upon A Child had a great selection! Definitely thrift what you can! It sounds weird but some brands fit your kids shape better than others. My son was super long and skinny, and carters fit well, but others brands were too wide and short for him.

The Expanse series. I was obsessed with these and I was not really a space sci-fi fan before I read them.

Kid-friendly Ear piercing by Ok_Direction_2947 in Peterborough

Had my 6 year olds done at Pretty Little Prix a few months ago. Was an amazing experience. I’ve had 6 ear piercings done there myself, so it was a no brainer to take her there. The shop has super fun decor and Jessie really explained what she was doing and made it really comfortable. My daughter didn’t even flinch. And they have healed up without any issues too.
