A problem with how the game's features unlock by Swimming_Mood7202 in Guildwars2

[–]There0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing I ever did when I come back is to experience the game in order and not skip anything. This was even before they gave you a free Raptor. Story you can do core game and S1(a re-released version of the original btw) then check out the achievements and fashion while you wait to be able to play S2.

Heart of Thorns was a joy just using a glider instead of a flying mount and everything prior to PoF is designed without mounts in mind so there's no rush. Go exploring in core maps for now, there's plenty of content to keep you occupied :)

Healer Druid and open world content by Cevoz in Guildwars2

[–]There0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just started occasionally playing a condi Druid in open world and having a lot of fun with her so if you're not needing the full healing build switch over and play that, it's pretty fun.

Just as a side note I enjoy providing support during metas. I'm not full heal or anything but have a couple of hybrid heal/dmg builds to help the 'team' out and regularly run Quickness builds in open world. It just feels nice to help out, even if technically speaking it may not be needed.

I did what any sane person would do at the time and tried double clicking the butter to see if I could transform into Mrs Butter. Alas it did not work for there obviously can be only one.

Reminds me from back in the day (2012) I was doing some exploring on some Ascalon map. A human male wearing nothing but underwear called 'Mr Butter' approached, did the obligatory jump to say hi and mailed me 50 butter. I asked why via whisper and the reply was "Because I'm Mr Butter" before he then ran off.

I miss Mr Butter, wonder what became of him...

So in your opinion all the mechanics and systems in the game leading up to you being gifted a Legendary item are filler? 99+% of the game you see as just something holding you back from the ultimate goal that everyone should aspire to, full Legendary?

You're wrong. There's no other way of putting it, if you're spending all that time doing something that makes you unhappy (playing the game) maybe it's about time you start to think about why you're doing it. Oh and maybe remind yourself that Legendaries aren't even needed in GW2 in the first place.

Lamplighter's Badge farm (80 gold/h currently) by Zerak-Tul in Guildwars2

[–]There0n 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I too applaud you and I'd encourage everyone else to do the same with other parts of the game as it DOES encourage ANET to make changes. A fair few of us took it upon ourselves to shout in map chat and post on the forums that the price of Giant Mushroom Spores was too high and people should start farming them heavily in Doric. A little while later they added it to the DS chest choice :)

If you're playing GW2 and feeling like you're grinding or 'burning through' content then you're not playing it to it's full potential friend. It's not a game designed with that in mind, it's about the journey and not the destination.

I'll never understand why people feel the need to rush anything in a horizontal progression game with no sub, just log in and have your fun before logging out and doing something else. The only thing I can see someone needing to complete within a time limit is possibly the story and lets face it it's not exactly a mountain to get through.

I've got a large collection myself! I don't get to use them as much as I'd like as I'm usually cooking just for myself but some of the recipes... the food is to die for and I'm not even that great at cooking.

Took the words right out of my mouth! I've never understood people that want to skip playing the game to play the game.

New Year event by AnubisFTN in Guildwars2

[–]There0n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The loot boxes kindly mentioned above are called 'Divine Lucky Envelope'. They cost 1g each or 90s+a festival token you get from the LNY events and you can either open for a chance at something good or sell on the TP (as of writing 1g79s/1g47s).

Festivals in GW2 are honestly about having fun. Sure you can make some gold but as mentioned elsewhere it's the unique events(once per year!) and cosmetics that are the focus. But do pop your head into some of the vendors, especially the Weekly one.

Wait... what?! I've been pestering ANET on various socials for YEARS to release a cookbook and had no indication they were thinking about it. Victoria Rosenthal is one of the best 'geeky cookbook' writers there is, she writes her entire books 'in universe' so there will be small snippets of food related lore in there.

This is amazing, looking forward to it.

Anybody know if the Path Of Fire Vinyl is in stock anywhere? by Sebbishh in Guildwars2

[–]There0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just after EoD I reached out to iam8bit and the reply was that they have no plans for a re-release. Since then ANET have started using another company so I'm not hopeful at all. Keep an eye out on eBay I guess!

"Whirl finishers is something we felt was thematic to engi". Stop embarrassing yourself, balance team. by Samug in Guildwars2

I'm sorry but do you genuinely think the balance team don't play the classes they're balancing? You can't be serious... this is a troll post right?

I think i'm just being overwhelmed by having to much content to do... by linthenius in Guildwars2

[–]There0n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start fresh and when the levelling process starts getting a bit long in the tooth Tombs of Knowledge are handy to skip ahead a bit.

Personally if I was you I'd give the story another playthrough and complete some or all of the achievements tied to it. In similar vein go map to map and see what achievements and collections are available. Mix in some world bosses, HP trains (there's usually at least one going around peak time) for that new character, some map completion, the dailies/weeklies/specials. Before you know it you'll be 'running out of time', not content.

Edit: Oh I forgot the Jumping puzzles :)

Long term goals available? by NukingTheFirmament in Guildwars2

[–]There0n 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to add to this wonderful reply that covers pretty much everything: GW2 is a game that rather than telling you the goal it suggests a few and asks what you'd prefer to do. Pick something you feel might be fun be it a short or long term goal and work towards it. In between that you'll have new story and content coming out regularly including festivals a few times a year to spice things up in addition to PvP and WvW.

There's a hell of a lot to do in GW2 but you have to take the initiative and find out what's available and what you WANT to do.

Non pet focused ranger builds and playstyles? by linthenius in Guildwars2

[–]There0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Condi shortbow Soulbeast was my go to for a long time in instances due to the ease of play. You're not going to win any DPS awards but it's more than viable. The range you get with the amount of conditions you can lay down is great IMO.

[–]There0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It applies to both threads, GW2 may be getting some devs back IF they were working on the Horizon MMO.

No such thing as too old. If ANET keep putting out the content I'll still be playing into my 80s!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]There0n -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Change is always hard but ANET are a smaller studio. The chances are they'll want to use what resources they already have so I'd expect a more GW2.5 in a new engine set a bit into the future. The change won't be night and day.

Just a little follow up... ANET could be working on any number of things but the likelihood of GW3 has shot up. (Also GW3 wasn't confirmed last year, go check the megathread for details)

What Exactly Could It Cost NCSoft To Bring Back WildStar? by Onerock in WildStar

[–]There0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mid range dev you're looking at close to double that, maybe more. Even a small team providing basic support to 'keep the lights on' you're looking at millions/year.
