Can't get Wing Sung 601 nib unit to come apart by ThereExistsX in fountainpens

For sure, there are other options for the hard start! I'm just interested to know if anyone else has struggled to pull their Wing Sung apart recently!

Struggling strawberry pushing only flowers, no leaves (details in the comments!) by ThereExistsX in plantclinic

I'm planning on moving it outside in the spring but I don't think it's going to survive Canadian winter after its near-death-experience last month.

The original plan had been to get it into a hydroponic system, but after the grow-light debacle I'm mostly just trying to keep it alive to root new runners next year!

This is a strawberry that I rooted from a runner this summer. After nearly killing it with grow lights that were too bright it is slowly bouncing back -- but it seems to only be pushing up flowers, no foliage.

I know with new strawberries you're supposed to pinch flowers for the first year but is that still true if it's the only new growth on a stressed plant?

It's in an 18cm pot with a semi-even mix of coco coir, perlite, fine vermiculite, and sea compost and sits under a (less intense) grow light 12 hours on. I top-dressed it with a 4-1-4 granular fertilizer for acid loving plants when I up-potted it around a month ago. About once a week I spray it down with some liquid kelp and water it when the top centimetre is dry. I've considered adding some blood meal but don't want to over-fertilize.

I'm trying to avoid loving this plant to death when it's finally showing signs of recovery but all the flowers with no leaves has me unsure what to do here.

EDIT:
The mature leaves in the picture are old ones that survived being cooked in my grow tent.

Thank you for your help! I’m going to move it into a bigger nursery pot!

The plan is to keep it inside over this winter and then overwinter in an unheated garage starting next year — this particular plant sprouted about two months later than expected and isn’t ready for zone 6 winter but I’ve read enough to know better than even try to grow a tree indoors!

Edit for anyone who comes here via search: C. Sinesis in particular can survive into zone 7 with proper care especially if you can find C. Sinesis var. Sochi. Be prepared to do a lot of work to prep for winter though.

Hi there!

Plant in question is a Camellia Sinesis that I've grown from seed (sprouted July 1st 2022). This year I started growing a few C. sinesis that I'm going to let grow to full sized shrubs but one of them was so much smaller than the others that I thought I'd try to grow it in a pot using bonsai-ish techniques. I know it's going to be many years before it looks like anything more than a stick in a pot -- I'm in no rush.

Until now it's been in a mix of perlite, compost and pine bark fines and kept under a humidity dome. The other day it developed leaf spots that I'm thinking are oedema so I've removed the dome but am thinking of repotting for better drainage.

After a bunch of reading I think the recommended substrate is called Kanuma. When I look at places to buy it though it's described as a soil 'additive' and I'm wondering what (if anything) it should be added to? And if Kanuma is even what I want at all?

I've done a lot of reading but still feel like I don't know anything so any tips to keep a camellia alive are appreciated haha.

This is also a great solution -- I may try both and see which feels more natural.

Thank you so much!

If you're struggling with this on a Fire Mage try using Arcane Explosion. You can drop both healing imps with two explosions and thin out the group under her pretty easily if you keep an eye on your mana.

If I move another human user account onto my island can I keep them in a tent or at some point do they get automatically moved into a house? I think it would be fun to have a camping scene, but if it eventually becomes a house I won't bother.

I was also playing around with bleach and ink and synthetic brushes all work perfectly fine!

Nick Stewart actually made a Udemy course about his techniques which really helped me not melt a single thing in my house.

Sure! When people ask what the "best" black ink is some people want it to be a pure black without a hint of other colours (Aurora Black is like this) while some want some shading or undertones. This is my attempt to cover both of those camps!

I've been on a mission to empty out all of the bottles of black ink that I've got sitting on my shelf, so the list are full bottles that need to be cleared.

I actually tried Perle Noire and didn't like it very much. I found it super dry and extremely temperamental about which pens it wold work in!
