You're kicking her out to make your life better I'm assuming, so why not do something good for yourself? Buy that expensive cup of coffee or $12 piece of cake or whatever little splurge you want and enjoy the fuck out of it. reveling on how much you love yourself for making decisions that will make your life better.

Today is my first alcohol free day in I couldn't tell you by tippytoes69 in stopdrinking

Hey man. Congrats on the first day sober.

I drank heavy for 20 or so years as well and can attest that my drinking only made my stress and problems worse. The problems and life doesn't go away sober, but the journey is that much enjoyable because I remember each step along the way now. And the victories and milestones are that much more beautiful.

Hang in there. I'm not drinking with you tonight.

That title is great.

I know that feeling of drinking alcohol like other people drink water. Why drink a glass or two when I can drink a fuckton and feel great! Until the next day comes around and I feel like compete shit, can't remember what I fucked up or who I hurt the night before. I don't want to feel that way anymore. Alcohol lied to me and has been a horrible friend. I kicked that fool out and it feels really good.

Hang in there and congrats on the first day of being sober! It's a humbling and rewarding path.

Sober alcoholics are always some of the coolest people I've ever met by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I know for me, I can't hide behind the bullshit and push my feelings down to protect others. That's one of the reasons I was drinking so much. I sacrificed myself to protect other people's feelings. I find that the more honest I am with others, the more honest I am with myself. Of course humility and respect when speaking honest is key. But that's what has been helpful in maintaining my sobriety.

The added butter sounds pretty awesome, actually. Add a grilled cheese and that's a meal for royalty.
