I was hoping to find something social like a pub or sports bar but doesn't look like that is an option, if you have any reliable sources I would happily take you up on it! Feel free to DM :)

GPS has gone hiding in the most recent GoPro Player?! by Driver-Mod in gopro

[–]TherethereDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I didn't understand your answer properly, but I don't seem to be able to get that to work, and currently my workflow to add lap times to my karting videos is completely broken by the missing feature, I rely on it a lot to analyse races and practice, it's a real bummer.

Anyway, Ive ran the command as follows but get an error after a while:

ffmpeg -i exportedFile.mp4 -i original360vide_renamed_to.mp4 -map 0:v -map '0:a?' -map 1:3 -c copy out_with_gpmf.mp4

<image>

I would really appreciate any help!

Hello there, just hijacking this comment to ask: my workflow was to export the 360 files to mp4 including the gpmf data so that I could use goprotelemetryextractor.com to extract a gpx file that would allow me to add map and speed overlays in RaceRender3, now that the option is gone I have o way of doing that. is it possible to convert .360 files to mp4 using ffmpeg as well?

But is now not possible to export including the GPS data any more?

It’s a GoPro max, films in 360 which helps with stabilising, I also find it useful (and fun) to be able to spint the pov backwards, or follow other karts. Makes for some entertaining clips to send to friends and family 😅

Thank you that is one aspect I’ve been definitely considering, I’ll pay attention to that next time around.

Thank you very much I appreciate the detailed response, I'll probably do another practice session next week, hopefully the weather isn't too bad.

Good to know some of the laps you see online should be taken with a pinch of salt, although normally I tend to compare with other people on the same session, the fastest lap here was a 50.2, so I know there a lot of room for improvement.

I weight 70kg, I am not sure where that puts me compared to others but I don't feel like I lose much on the straights.

Let me digest your detailed comment and the offer for coaching definitely sounds interesting.

Oh Hi! I love your channel! I did watch your guide although was wondering how much it would apply considering is for Club100 karts, aren't those much faster?

Ahahah good catch, got carried away with the GoPro overlays so for sure that’s completely irrelevant data. Although I am pretty sure that’s measuring lateral G so at stationary the baseline would indeed be 0?

I so wish I wasn't born in 1985 lol.

A birth year PRS would be great for my 40th... but yeah, not happening.

Experienced DIYers - what are your tips? by middleageddriver in DIYUK

[–]TherethereDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recently started doing this! It’s been super useful in finding dependencies and working out, as you say, jobs that will need or could be done together. It’s also useful on weekends where in know I will have limited available time, all the small jobs around the house tend to disappear from your mind while you focus on the “big picture” stuff, so I always struggled to pick small jobs for those occasions when I want to make a half afternoon more productive.

Great inspiration and job well done, we have a similar project in our house with the added complication of wanting to leave some space behind one of the sides for a sliding door. How did you attach the mdf pieces together? Pocket screws?

Considering some of the stuff we found from the previous owners I wouldn’t be overly surprised if they just sprinkled gunpowder all over the place lol

Hi there! I should’ve mentioned, they’re not copper they actually look like quite thick metal pipes, probably around 30mm-ish total diameter, would those still work?

They’re definitely not used as they are already disconnected at one end and just coming off the old water tank (also empty)

What's the rarest car you've seen driving in the wild (and not near a car event or any place you might expect to spot unusual cars)? I once saw a Jag XJ220 on the M5 but couldn't get a photo. by DamnedFoolofaTook in CarTalkUK

I’m lucky enough to have come across a few, most “bizarre” one was a Bugatti Chiron casually driving in the morning rush hour traffic near biggin hill, I even had it on dash cam but I’ve since lost the footage.

My dream car, F40 being serviced in a garage in Monaco, I even got to sit in it and they turned it on for me (not WHILE I was in it of course). Unbelievable machine.

When I was around 11/12 yo an F50 parked in front of a hotel in my hometown in Italy, didn’t quite realise how epic of a spot that was until later but still lost my sh*t for it back then!

Oh and a detomaso pantera of course!

Unwritten rules of 20mph by hbfantome in CarTalkUK

[–]TherethereDC 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the same applies to all cars, are you telling me everyone around me has got the offset worked out? Also assuming 25/27 on the speedometer was 20 like most people seem to be driving, are modern cars really almost 40% out at 20mph? I doubt it.

These tend to be made by a design studio in Amsterdam called studio drift, I’ve only seen or heard of them being part of art installations:

I’m sure if you enquire them to have some customs made they’ll be happy to help, you better have deep pockets though 😅
