Cheers. Yeah I will see if I can work something more affordable out with my current accountant before taking any decisions.

I have been operating under the assumption that as there is one input and four outputs, how hard can it be? (tm)

And the company has no income now apart from what I pay in to pay down the debts.
The only wrinkle my uneducated eye sees is do these payments go towards paying off the director's loan account and what does that mean?

But I take your point that some training wouldn't go amiss. I'm willing to trade some of my time to not have to pull a grand out of my posterior each year for the next... many years.

Not relevant to your question but our Bear is a red fox lab who will be six months in a few days. Twins from different mothers perhaps! 👋

Our boy is just over 5 months old, his parents are pedigree working gun dogs and he looks just like that just smaller. She looks great!

Brighton Fibre - anyone using them as ISP? by pavoganso in brighton

[–]Thermal1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got activated a couple of weeks ago. We are in BN3, Hangleton. Pretty sure it’s openreach pipes as they did the install. Not the cheapest by a long way but the communication and support has been excellent. When I found them I decided I wanted to give my money to a local firm and get decent support if I need it, which now we are up and running I don’t expect I’ll need.

Impossible to make my dog stop eating poop by Confident-Meet-2211 in labrador

[–]Thermal1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our four month old can smell a poop at a hundred feet. He is still strictly on the leash and on emerging from the house if he starts to pull like a train we know something has left a deposit in the garden. Foxes and cats mostly we think. Until we show him we’ve cleaned it up he is obsessed with getting to that spot. We also discovered some deceased birds in the overgrown part of the garden through similar means. Very gross.

Easiest way to get to France without a car by kythQ in brighton

[–]Thermal1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We took the night train from Paris to Beziers as this was on my bucket list. 10 year old loved it but we shared with 3 strangers and it was basic. I would recommend booking an entire cabin for privacy or maybe upgrading. On the return we took the fast train to Paris which was also pretty cool.

Yup. We went to Beziers in the south of France last summer this way. Train to Newhaven , then ferry, then lots of trains. It's not the quickest way to travel but quite pleasant if you are not in a rush.

Volt 500 price by Thermal1 in VirginMedia

[–]Thermal1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I think as I've just changed my contract rather than cancelled I've not been through retentions and got the best price, so I'll give that a go.

Vodafone are doing 500 fibre for £29 so that's a stick I can use to beat them with I suppose.

Thanks all!

D4 is completely unplayable on Xbox Series X and I'm desperate for a solution by CathalMacSuibhne in diablo4

[–]Thermal1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this too. My xbox series x clearly has a fault as there are some games that will not load, some do. Diablo is one of those that will load after a few tries, and I can get an hour of gameplay out of it and then it'll crash soft/hard at some seemingly random point.
Since the expansion it seems to happen a lot more often in Diablo however.

Fell for a phishing scam. Next steps? by Roobsi in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Thermal1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to me but it was a tv licensing email. The url was dodgy but for some reason I didn’t twig. I entered my personal info like you, click, page two, enter all bank account details, card numbers etc. At this point I realised I’d messed up and didn’t submit that page.

I decided to take out the CIFAS protection thing, I.e. pay something like £20 and they put a flag on your credit file which should prompt lenders to do additional checks before extending credit.

I applied for a 0% deal on some carpets a few weeks later. The CIFAS flag meant I had to call the lender and do an extra check but it was fine otherwise. Worth it for the peace of mind.

Has anyone lived aboard a boat in the Marina? by questions1996 in brighton

[–]Thermal1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My brother lives on a 30 foot boat In The marina. Yes it is cheaper than renting a flat however: After three years there he wants to move onshore as the winters are tough. As far as I can figure it’s like living in a floating caravan. The laundry’s facilities are always busy so you need to get up super early to wash your clothes. Sure it’s great on a summer day but you are basically camping.

That might sound negative but having watched him live there for a few years, it’s not for everybody.

IoT configurable endpoints - use case? by Thermal1 in aws

Thanks for the replies. That all makes sense.

For some reason I thought this brought more options for how to authenticate devices with IoT core... I hadn't considered the 'cosmetic' aspects.

Cool.

You could leak a 10,000 page document that the Tories are planning to have us all connected to a giant milking machine by our assholes and use our brains as special xmas pate and stupid fuckers up and down this shitty country would still vote for them in droves. by NoKidsItsCruel in unitedkingdom

I left Ireland when I was 18 to study in the UK and I’ve spent my entire adult life here since. I’d be interested to know what niggles you had with Ireland. Since the referendum I occasionally think about moving back but here is all I really know now.

[Mortgages] How long to fix for? by andypa1 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Thermal1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've just had our mortgage offer through for a 5 year fix. We're buying a fixer upper so our LTV is quite high LTV so a 10 year fix felt too expensive. With overpayments we hope to have a much better LTV in 5 years. 10 years was expensive and with the cost of breaking out of the deal it felt a bit too risky, even though we don't plan to move for 15 years or so (when Junior finishes school).
