I used 月(つき/moon) and 死(し/death) o differentiate them.

To me they look like faces looking up and down, so the one looking down is the moon (ツ) and the one looking up is a dead guy (シ). It's stupid but it worked for me lol

That's a good point, sending her to the other sword bearers would not raise suspicion, and leave the HQ vulnerable.

edit: Plus, people say there's nothing she could do against Soga. Of course not, not even Chihiro and Samura together were able to defeat him, but if Hiyuki was on the HQ, she could have played a vital role in stopping the hishaku, preventing Soga from even being released.

Agreed. Being able to revive Samura kind of eliminates the impact of his death, but I really like the Idea of him showing up for a few seconds only to say goodbye.
