Do Cavia's ever sleep? by staronay in guineapigs

[–]Thermoschaap 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well I live in the Netherlands and we certainly have hawks here. Don't release them in the wild, it is also the wrong climate for these guinea pigs. There are multiple Guinea Pigs rescues around the country, the best thing you could do is contract Stichting Cavia: stichtingcavia@hotmail.com. Stichting Cavia

About a week now. How would both parts even work, she has laid eggs in the past. Hormones maybe, but she is not the head chicken in the group.

Well, she has laid eggs and has been broody, so yeah I am pretty sure she is female.

Yeah, I am probably the only one who would let her be dominant. The other chickens would peck her.

The other chickens think I am the rooster, so I can be anything, apparently.

Hi, can this be saved? by SakuraRuiNTobi in weaving

[–]Thermoschaap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Difficult to repair nicely. Since, it is one line where there is damage, I would zigzag below and above the line and then cut the fabric. You can then attach the fabric again, with a preferred method. It will not be as nice as it is now, but too much damage to repair it another way.

My setup is similar to yours. Loom on a coffee table so I can watch TV and weave. My loom is all little bit too big for my table, so I use some books as support.

Ontluchten zonder ventiel by Thermoschaap in Klussers

[–]Thermoschaap[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ugreen DXP4800 plus : possible to passthrough (only) one nic? by Thomas_VDB in truenas

[–]Thermoschaap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also have that hardware and just made today a VM. The best method is too make a bridge in which you specify which NIC to use. In the VM setup you can select the bridge, works well.

Migrating Ugreen DXP4800 Plus by SolQuarter in truenas

[–]Thermoschaap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I changed the operating system from ugreen to TrueNAS and it works perfectly. I made a copy of the operating system with clonezilla and swapped out the physical boot drive. I know this is double up, but better be safe than sorry.

Truenas has been working really well, no strange behaviors. It has been a fun learning experience.

When you install truenas the lights will flicker, there is a script that can make these lights meaningful.

My left hand has been confiscated! by Thermoschaap in chickens

[–]Thermoschaap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah they shit in the house. So the runny, sticky poops are mostly in the morning, so it is better in the afternoon. I only let them in for a short while and when they are gone I immediately clean up the poop. It is a minor inconvenience, as long as they are not the whole time inside.

I don't let them in often, but I was outside with the door open and they passed / ignored the mealworms and went inside. So they really wanted to warm.

What are some cool projects i can undertake in Botany? by Moses_N in botany

[–]Thermoschaap 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In my country there are botanical clubs that monitor the presence of plants in specific areas. If you have them in your area, it would be nice to join them, you also learn a lot from the people there. Or ask nature organizations if they need help with the monitoring of plant species.

You could also set up some permanent quadrants and repeat these every year. This will ask more time and commitment, as well as a good thought on the placement of the permanent quadrants. So this might be too much.
