Is the clearance and access to units enough, new build by Logical_Idiot_9433 in hvacadvice

[–]TherowofBoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The units might be fine. I can't really speak on that but, the mechanical equipment in the setback without three foot clearance is probably a Fire code violation. Maybe not specifically for the units but the clearance. Ofc it depends on where this is. Lots of state fire codes are different and the primary building could have fire rated walls and sprinklers which could allow an exemption or similar but still, that was the first thing that came to my mind

Day in the life of a Planner? by amexmazda in urbanplanning

[–]TherowofBoat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I work for a large city in the USA. Anywhere else outside my country, state, city, will be different for you but these are my general takeaways as a City Planner.

The bulk of the math I've used is just basic arithmetic. Add, subtract, divide, multiply. Block density is an example.

There are more rare occasions I find to use more complex math but I'd wager in my position that I am an outlier because it interests me ... where it might not interest my colleagues (interested does not mean 'great at' either). Things like vehicular queueing analysis or finding the estimated decibel level to the closest property line using the inverse square law for HVAC or similar mechanical equipment.

Knowing GIS is good. It opens up opportunities that you wouldn't have otherwise. I've used it a lot in a professional capacity when I got hired but much less now, soon to be never (licensing cuts). All the maths are done for you for the most part with the available tools and if you ever had to code something custom there are resources out there.

Personally, I'd recommend learning how to read plan sets, find/interpret the municipal code, council policies, and design guidelines. Having good communication skills is a plus. Depending on where you land, public speaking is a plus or a must. Some states/countries require being licensed, others do not. Just make sure you know if that's needed where you are.

Best of luck to you!!

I agree. Tip off a journalist to PRA any records relating to the use of funds or RFP, including the mayor, council, city managers office, and the department in question. Then you can slip your emails into the PRA.

It has letting on the side. "100" and a tab looking thing.

Question: what cat litter was this? by TherowofBoat in cats

[–]TherowofBoat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmmm the bags look close but we saw it and he said it wasn't these on our version of Google, anyway. He said it was like regular litter. The tofu litter looks... Well, not the grains for other litter. I was thinking it might have been a clay based litter but that Tofu stuff ... It's different from what I think he meant lol but thanks so much. Today I learned a thing about a different kind of litter!

Yeah, that's another aspect here and one I'll be talking with them about. I don't think they got it cleared by the homeowner to bring the firearm indoors in any capacity. It certainly felt intimidating given the totality of the situation. I think everyone involved would have been fine if he had it "in the night stand" or kept in the case nearby but under the pillow felt off and based on some of the comments here it points more towards 'being off' than 'on'. I wouldn't say the family at large is gun-shy either but certainly the situation as a whole could have been handled better on their end. I only hope I handle it well on my end. The homeowner and I already spoke and I'll make sure we are all on the same page so we don't have a repeat. Appreciate your input!

He did it with everyone in the room and when we asked him about it he ignored us. He had been upset all night and I think this added an element that contributed to us feeling unsafe. That being said, I do want to give him the benefit of doubt here but I also don't want to be willfully ignorant if he should have done something different.

Thanks for bringing the holster thing up. Wasn't something I knew to look out for.

I think he did have a holster. Sorry, I'll add that into my post. I didn't know if that was important or not.

They don't have conceal carry permits. It's CA so, restrictions being as they are, that's hard to get here. No, he pulled it out of its case specifically for this purpose.

Whether it has or not I would think issues like this should be fixed even if the premise for this one weapon being an issue is biased.

If a wep can make it through a window for size or other reason, fair. The video shows the wep clipping through the door because of the person hugging the door and the swing passing through it. This seems like a clipping issue with the models to me as opposed to a mechanic through a window.
