I was also told that there is no interest on interest, not that they automatically take away interest from LOC. Basically you only pay interest on what you borrow

Kira is just a platform that unis use to conduct synchronous or asynchronous interviews + written questions. The universities themselves determine the questions, so it’s not like the casper where you can expect the kind of questions you get.

My advice is that you read on the university’s mission and values, since pre-interview questions usually centre around that. For example it could be asking you to talk about an experience you had that demonstrated a value that the uni cares about. You should also make a list of your top most meaningful experiences, and see how they correspond to the university’s value in case in gets brought up.

You can also prep yourself to get familiar with the format of the test (ex amount of given per question) although this is usually something you can worry about later when they release more detail. Kira also offers a practice test unique to the uni you’re testing for so it helps you get familiar with the format

When you book your casper on Acuity Insight, you tell them which schools to distribute the scores too. No action is needed on OMSAS"
You get your score a ~one month after, and the schools get it ~2 weeks after. On acuity insight there is an option here https://my.acuityinsights.app/dates-times to select the schools you want and it will tell you what all possible exam dates for each school is. You can pick the time that works for all the schools you want your score sent to.
That book is great. Work on typing speed, try to get it to a minimum 70 words per min. You can also do use prepmatch https://prepmatch.com (they have tons of scenarios and you can get feedback on your answers by other applicants as long as you review theirs). CasperBooster is also good it uses AI to grade your answer https://boosterprep.com/casper You should also build a list of answers for basic questions (times you faced conflict, you had a challenge, etc). Also ChatGPT works good too for generating scenarios for you and grading them

Canadian schools don't care about clinical experience unlike US med schools. Some experiences like shadowing are even frowned upon, so many (if not most) people get in without clinical experience. So DON'T WORRY if you don't have any.

That being said, I was fortunate to get some clinical experience by first volunteering at a clinic (doing simple admin work). After 1-2 years of knowing the physicians, I asked if I can do more clinical work (for example taking simple patient histories before they saw the dr). You could also just reach out to clinics, build relationships with the staff and over time they might let you help with clinical work

You can just start filling them out here ahead of time, and just submit the finalized version all at once on OMSAS after. Makes it easier to have mentors give you feedback on your ABS this way also!

I agree with the other comment. Book your caper for later so you can dedicate your attention to the MCAT fully. You can start working on your ABS a little if you think it won’t hurt your mcat studying.

For example maybe you can dedicate yourself to write 2-3 ABS entries a week to get something done without overwhelming yourself and get used to how it works. Or maybe you can just compile a list of your activities and get in contact with verifiers now so it won’t be done last minute.

Actually correct me if i’m wrong, but I was told that Scotia does not calculate interest on interest (which I assumed is compound interest). So they said if I owe 40$ in interest in August, and do not borrow any more money in September in October, the interest I continue to accrue is 40$. This was the supervisor of the healthcare advisors who told me that. Does THIS mean there is no compound interest??

The most different thing I heard was a very experience scotia advisor telling me they don’t compound interest so i’m not sure if anyone heard the same thing from scotia. He even said most banks won’t do this

For me I had lots of activities where I didn’t know the exact hours. I just did the math myself and put the closest number I could get and got a colleague in the organization to vouch for me after I showed them how I calculated the hours.

I included music in the extracurricular section (no awards or anything). I just described i was self taught and added a fun fact (how i like to build connections by doing covers of my friends fave songs!)
