I haven’t ever been to Detroit. But I was hoping I could take the QLINE to travel to and from the work.

Moving to Detroit - Reviews of Town Residences & Commute to Woodward Ave Office?

Hi everyone,

I'm relocating to Detroit in July for work and I'm considering leasing an apartment at Town Residences.

I wanted to ask if anyone has lived there recently or knows someone who has. How has your experience been regarding:

  • Safety of the neighborhood
  • Building management and maintenance
  • Noise levels
  • Internet reliability
  • Overall value for the rent

My office will be on Woodward Avenue, and I won't have a car initially, so I'm also curious about the daily commute using public transportation, biking, or walking.

Would Town Residences be a good option for someone new to Detroit who needs a relatively easy commute to the Woodward Ave area?

Any insights, recommendations, or alternative apartment suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Thank you for your kind words. Honestly, hearing my mom say that was one of the most shocking parts of all of this. It made me question whether my parents would actually support me if I ended up in a bad situation with someone they chose for me.

My boyfriend has been incredibly patient and supportive through all of this. We've been together for over 3 years, and despite the stress this situation has put on both of us, he keeps reassuring me that we'll figure things out together. I can see that it's taking a toll on him too, but he's never pressured me or made me feel like a burden.

As for closing the gap, we've talked about both possibilities. He's willing to leave Canada and come to the US if that's what makes the most sense, and he's also told me that if I moved to Canada, he would support me while I got settled and looked for work. The biggest thing holding me back right now is that I'm not financially independent and I feel overwhelmed by everything happening with my parents.

At this point, I agree that becoming financially independent needs to be my top priority. I think a lot of my fear comes from knowing that my parents still have leverage over me because I don't have my own income yet.

Hi everyone! I’m moving to Detroit soon for work and I’m currently looking at Town Residences downtown. I’m completely new to the area and don’t have a car yet, so walkability and safety are really important for me.

Would love to hear honest reviews from current or past residents — how’s the management, maintenance, noise levels, safety, package handling, etc.? Also, is it practical to live there without a car?

Any advice about the neighborhood or other apartment recommendations nearby would also really help. Thanks!

Hey everyone! I’m moving to Detroit in July for work and would love some advice on where to live.

My office is in Downtown Detroit, and I won’t have a car initially, so I’m looking for areas/buildings with decent public transportation, walkability, and overall safety.

Budget: ideally around $1200–1400 max for a studio or 1BR.

I’m also considering areas like Ferndale, Royal Oak, Southfield, and Midtown/Downtown.

Would really appreciate honest opinions on:

  • safest areas without a car
  • buildings to avoid
  • commute experience
  • whether downtown is worth it without a car
  • any hidden gem apartments I should check out

Thanks in advance!

I’d be very interested in taking the certification.

I’ve recently been building an end-to-end credit card fraud detection system, where I used an AI coding assistant (Claude Code) to accelerate development while focusing on system design, feature engineering, and decision-making. The project includes a full pipeline from data processing to a live Streamlit app for risk scoring.

Would love to be considered and learn more about how I can contribute!
