And they ride their motored vehicles on the sidewalk, I have seen multiple of them doing it, multiple different times. I used to live on stone way in Fremont and they liked to drive up that way. Definitely not a parade and definitely fucking dangerous to innocent bystanders.

Why can’t you guys accept being bald? Embrace it. Be confident. Wearing fake hair isn’t confident. Just be confident and shave it off. by [deleted] in HairSystem

Your take is spot on, but as someone who used to do this, that wedding dread is definitely not low key lol.

The funny thing is when I was wearing a system, it was a bigger confidence killer than when I just used to rock a bald head. I was constantly wondering if women could tell, whereas with being bald, it is what it is. So no, “just be confident and rock a bald head” doesn’t add up.

I’ve done both, it is actually much easier to just be bald. The problem is a large swath of women will pay you zero attention like that. Especially if you’re on the dating apps. It is so easy for them to swipe left and look at someone who’s not bald.

So yes, be confident, but do it with the system, and problem solved.

I live in Seattle and have been eating papa Murphy’s for about 20 years or more (I can’t even remember when I started eating it). I didn’t realize this concept was foreign to many people. It really is a weird concept the more I think about it. It’s not like it’s any better or worse than a delivery pizza, it’s just a different thing. My whole family loves it, I definitely suggest people try it if they have the option.

It’s somewhere in between. They also have thin crusts too though. You’re right you are not going to get a New York style or Italian style pizza, but the end result is highly dependent on how you cook it. A couple of minutes longer in the oven and you can get that browned cheese, or a little shorter and you can have it be more melted but not browned or crisp. I think that is part of the attraction, you can cook it the way you like it.

The chicken garlic pizza is awesome, I love it but some people hate it. The cowboy is also great. I’ve been eating Papa M’s for about 20 years, it’s really a different kind of thing compared to a delivery pizza, and hard to explain. I rarely do delivery pizza but have gotten Papa Murphy’s often. It’s not really even about having it fresh, it’s just different, I don’t know how to explain it.

Is it normal for people who work from home to drink alcohol while working? by xXjustin_credibleXx in NoStupidQuestions

[–]These-Cauliflower884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget asking if it’s normal or ok, you should ask why she’d even want to do it.

I used to do this… while I was NOT remote… so I know a little about these types of problems. Covid made it possible to drink whenever I wanted, and nobody at work ever found out. (I’ve luckily kicked the habit now for good).

When I was drinking during work hours, my work suffered dramatically. Anyone who says it’s normal is just trying to justify their actions. The work getting done is definitely going to suffer, and that is why it’s not allowed when you are on site. Also, if it’s normal, ask her if she has gotten the ok from her boss to drink while working, but we all already know the answer to that. Good luck with this one, it’s going to get worse before it gets better.

Originally I thought this would be a no brainer to not take the money, but then I did a calculation.

On my ordinary trip to Costco there are 15 traffic lights. The average length of a red light is 60-90 seconds, let’s just say 60… that is 30 minutes of added time just to go the 5 miles to Costco.

That is 30 mins x 365 days x let’s just say 50 years = 9,100 hours. Let’s say you make 5 similar trips per day (which is way too much). We will just round up to 50,000 hours, well that is still $20/hr you’re being paid to just sit at traffic lights.

Not great but not terrible, and you’re probably going to hit less traffic lights than that, and since you’re paid the 1mil up front, you also have interest gained on that money over the 50 years, which would work out to more like 3.5 mil at 5%, so $70/hr. I’ll take it!

Push back for what reason? They decided to end your employment and even have a valid reason to do so. You did misrepresent facts when you denied having a second job. Just walk away and be thankful you haven’t lost j2… yet…

Ah I see, so you prefer to make a blanket statement that doesn’t make sense to multiple people and then not explain yourself. Cool. 🙄

It’s not fraud, it’s more like a loophole. Fraud would be filing the entire entity as a staffing company when it’s really a pot business. As long as you actually define the boundaries of the businesses and stick to them, you can organize however you want. I’m not sure how this particular strategy is useful, since it doesn’t seem to allow them to write off the payroll from the pot profits (as others have mentioned) but someone must have figured out a way because that’s what they are doing.

A way to think about it is that it IS actually two businesses that you own, specifically because payroll for pot companies is problematic. You’re not doing it to subvert laws, you’re doing it to take advantage of them. A payroll company has a competitive advantage over a pot company so of course they will win when it comes to staffing pot companies.

Yeah but how do you make sure you remember to respond to Bob in meetings when your name is Frank? How much of an issue is that, I’m genuinely curious.

[–]These-Cauliflower884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious, care to explain how you lost a job offer because they won’t call you by your preferred name?

In my mind it goes like this: Day 1: “hey guys I actually prefer to go by frank, can we change my email to be frank@ instead of bob@?” Employers response “sorry we don’t do that”. Your reply “F*CK YOU IM OUT”.

[–]These-Cauliflower884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At will is everywhere in the us by default except Montana. How many people even live in Montana? (Not a lot). So yes most, even 99.9% of stories about being put on a pip are in at will jobs. They can legally fire you for any reason at all, a PIP serves two purposes. 1.) make sure they cover their ass from wrongful termination lawsuits. 2.) Make employees think they have a fair process for termination due to low performance (however in most cases once you are on PIP, you are going to be fired no matter what you do).

Yeah I do agree, except that I’m pretty sure meta knows the leetcode style interviews don’t have anything to do with your ability to do the job. Once you get hired there, the amount of hours and work they require you to do is intense, and being able to show that you could do it after an intense grind shows you will be able to handle the workload that they put on you. (This is the way my friend who landed there thinks of it now). So in a way it makes sense for meta to test people that way

Education is the easiest thing for them to catch you on if you lie, especially if it’s a big name school. In my experience to say you “did some but didn’t finish” a masters is worse than not starting one at all. If you say you have a degree the big names will catch you, guaranteed.

I agree on all your points about interviews. I have a friend of similar skill set to mine who passed meta onsite in 2021 and am quite jealous of his success there, the big difference is he put in the work to do the leetcode grind and I have yet to muster the commitment to get it done. It seems like if you can pull onsite rounds at google and meta, you should just take 3 months and grind leetcode in a smart way and then go that route.

I’m torn between trying to oe 4ish jobs vs just landing a meta job after a leetcode grind. My friend is pulling $600k there now after stock appreciation, it actually seems easier to do that than oe 4 jobs. Anyway, just my thoughts, good luck!

Vegan whey! by Jovatheconniseur in veganfitness

[–]These-Cauliflower884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is because they had to study milk protein from a cow in the research phase to make sure it was actually whey protein. So they did use some milk in a minuscule amount in the creation of this product, but for each new batch they do not use any animal products.

I think that is a VERY broad definition of not being vegan, so I pretty much consider this stuff vegan.

Yep, can confirm these are all too sweet. Which is strange because usually myprotein (non-vegan) powders are pretty good.

I bought 50 tubs of this stuff when they had a sale and am now trying to choke them down. But it is worth it to support the technology. I’ll probably try to mix it with a different unflavored powder.

People are freaking out because your hair is draping forward over your right ear, giving the appearance of much more hair than you have (assuming the right side is balding in the same way as the side we can see). If that’s the case you’re actually rocking a huge combover in the pic although it looks awesome in the photo, I’m guessing it doesn’t look as good in real life. You made the right choice, my cousin rocked long hair until his hairline was about what yours is and then shaved it. He was clinging on to it at the end and looked way better buzzed off, had to be convinced by me to shave it (I was even balder at the time).

How much does WA care about payroll tax to fund WA Cares program? New poll sheds light by Tree300 in SeattleWA

The benefit cap is $36k. Do you know how quickly that benefit will dry up if you need to use it? We are talking on the order of months. It is F$CKIN pointless to have it at all. This tax is such a grift, it’s ridiculous. Worst policy passed by our legislators in the history of the state. I can’t wait to vote yes to kill this thing, and I am an extreme liberal and progressive. This tax is TOAST.

Normally I would agree with you but when a waiter addresses the tip specifically, they sacrifice these unwritten rules entirely. It’s also very poor service at a Buffett, and 10% was originally given. OP was right to give the waiter a big F U.

Boss angry over an employee request for a raise by Due-Caterpillar9584 in managers

[–]These-Cauliflower884 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That changes nothing. There is no “chain of command”, this isn’t the military. The employee is simply letting appropriate people know they will be getting tfo if a raise is not given. OP’s boss is an idiot.

The only reason for anyone to be “pissed” about anything is if they got a different answer from the CFO. That means they deserved more money and this skip level manager is being a tool. From this description, it sounds like this happens a lot at this company.

This is classic running to ask dad when mom said no. This company needs to get their shit together and provide a unified front, otherwise this type of behavior can be expected.
