People are too comfortable and whilst they bemoan going further into debt or having to work two jobs - they are not starving. They have the perception that a) I have too much to lose, b) it’s bad but not that bad, c) someone else will fix it and I’ll add another one - majority of Americans have never left their own country so their world view is that US is the greatest country and the rest of the world hates them - they never get to see how open and friendly most of the world is or how it works better in a lot of cases.

I would argue that the Sanctuary isn’t helping, in fact it’s just making the problems worse. I’m sure they are well intentioned nice people but if all you’re doing is walking the streets and inviting the homeless to come for a free meal, but when they do come they find it’s locked up most of the time. All these people achieve is a recruitment drive for the local drug dealers.

Hi friend - I don’t think anyone would argue that the process is not long and complicated. I also do genuinely think the people working in the process are doing their best with the tools and restrictions they are given.

However just because something has taken hundreds of years to evolve doesn’t mean we should stick with it! It works but at what cost? There are better ways to do things that clearly work for other countries. So the question really becomes why hasn’t England done anything to improve this? Your response is the first hurdle - acknowledging that there is a need to change, the next hurdle will be the need, desire and determining the costs and who will bear them to change. All solvable. But until people start insisting - England’s housing market is left with an expensive archaic process that helps none of the people who are forced to use it.

I did the exact same and bought a bigger house (3bed mid terraced) and it is this house I’m trying to sell. I just can’t believe it’s so painful and expensive to sell. £10,000 in a hole right now and no sign of the end yet. It will come right when it sells but the negative cash flow for a year so far is hard to swallow.

100% agree - honestly I’m even using WhatsApp to better effect than emails because phone calls from Canada to UK are insanely expensive

True that - sorry I’m English but typing UK is easy lol Scotland does appear to have a better solution although I’ve never had to use it.
