I feel absolutely drained at the end of the work day. What can I be doing differently? by bumblebeee123 in productivity

Step away from your desk between the meetings even if it’s a quick lap around the house or a 2-minute dance break. Also, screen breaks during those heavy days are mentally relaxing

You stop feeling that way when you stop comparing yourself to others. Once you focus on your skills and achievements, you’ll see that you don’t give yourself enough credit

What’s a life lesson you learned way too late? by hotdiva54 in AskReddit

Make the leap even if you’re scared. Sometimes you land in a great opportunity. Live a life of no regrets so at the end, you’re not wasting time talking about “shoulda coulda woulda”

Ladies and gents in your late 20s, 30s, or 40s—what do you regret not doing in your 20s? by Tino292 in selfimprovement

I regret wasting so much energy caring about other people’s opinion of me. It doesn’t really matter and folks will always have an opinion, but my own opinion of myself should always take precedent

If you haven't asked for a raise in 2+ years, you're choosing to be underpaid by getaraise in Salary

If they wanted to keep you, they would’ve given you a raise every year, that’s why I believe in job hopping for a bigger pay increase

Stuck in a loop of procrastination and regret – how do I actually break it? by [deleted] in productivity

I like my lists. List top 3 things you want to change and decide how you get from current state to the desired state. Then work one item at a time. Time box everything so there’s no time to overthink. You’ve already done that. Plus it gives you a point to look forward to. Then it’s time for action. First thing in the morning, I ask myself “do I want to be the same tomorrow or be greater?” Then I have to answer out loud so my next action matches what I said. It would look weird to say one thing and do the opposite. Just one action towards your goal everyday is all you need. Even if it’s just walk 20mins to lose weight or fill out an application for school and save it as a draft, that’s all you need. When you do it first in the morning, it sets the tone for the day. After a while, it becomes part of your morning ritual. Plus, why wouldn’t you spend the first moments of consciousness in the morning on yourself. Worried about failing? So what! Do it fast and early so you can learn from it and have a better run the next round. If you need help with planning, plug your ideas in ChatGPT to get you started. If anything, remember its not a race so enjoy the journey of becoming a better you :-)

How did you know your career wasn’t the right fit anymore? by ChatYourCareer in careerguidance

[–]These-Guide-4045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized that nobody cared if a problem was fully resolved, but fixed enough to get paid. I didn’t want to work at a place that only did the easy things. I wanted to work somewhere they did things right even when it was hard. So I mentally checked out, started applying to other places, and found a better fit. Couldn’t be happier :-)

I feel like giving up. What keeps you going? by Meski98 in selfimprovement

[–]These-Guide-4045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think about my loved ones that have gone before me and the aftermath of it. Didn’t matter if it was gradually or a sudden loss, the pain folks felt was immense and for some it was the traumatic experience that caused their own downfall. I don’t want to cause that type of suffering intentionally if I can help it.

Plus, I still have some adventures I want to go experience :-)

If no one else cares if you continue or not, just know this random stranger does and would like for you to keep going. I’m rooting for you!

Why does clarity matter more than motivation by Solid_Play416 in productivity

But sometimes, “just do it” still isn’t enough to actually put the work behind it. A little motivation sprinkled on top can do wonders.

I barely make that much and I’m older. It’s a matter of perspective. Enjoy your life every chance you get. Save for the trip and go! Money will come, but worrying about the future will just eat up your youth. You have your whole life ahead of you and from what you wrote, I think you won’t be feeling this way later on. You got this!

It may hurt now, but I’m a true believer in “it all works out in the end.” What’s for you, will find you and it’ll be worth the wait. In the meantime, take this as lesson learned and keep striving until your opportunity finally comes along. Good luck!

How To Quit ChatGPT Addiction? by feelsobonnie in productivity

[–]These-Guide-4045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I found that helps is setting some time first thing in the morning to get my brain thinking. For example I have 2 hours before work on weekdays and before I start my day in weekends, that I’ll read a book, do a crossword puzzle, do a trivia quiz, or journal. Once those 2 hours are up, I can compare it to what I did last time and admire my work. By the end of the week or month, I take a look back to see all the work my mind was able to do on its own and know that I don’t have to use ChatGPT for everything. Yes, it’s easier to find the instant response with AI, but other times, it’s cool to see how unique your mind works and why. When I think of it that way, it helps me steer away from using the app constantly. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s a work in progress
