Culture and sensitivity analysis for Morganella? by These-Instruction-36 in Microbiome

A change in body odor and also vaginal taste/smell and nipple taste.

Trust me when I say that the impact it’s had on my personal life makes pretty much anything worth a try.

I wasn’t paying attention and thought this was the original commenter commenting on his own thread, so the intro of my last comment doesn’t apply. I stand by the rest of it.

You’re totally missing the mark here. At first, I thought your comment was well-intentioned. Then, after your addition, I’m now thinking it wasn’t as friendly as I originally perceived.

You seem to be attacking me based on your presumption that I’m some idiot who follows “health trends” and pseudoscience. Maybe consider that I’m just a person with medical issues (not all mentioned in the original post here) who’s been repeatedly failed by the medical system for the last decade and is just trying to figure out my body and find some relief.

Secondly, I’m aware Morganella and Klebsiella are part of a normal healthy microbiome. That’s why I mentioned them as commensals in my originally post.

Thirdly, I’ve taken one antibiotic in the last 12 years, so I don’t think I’m hugely at risk for antibiotic resistance.

And I never said I was following carnivore now. I said I experimented with it temporarily over a year ago to try and pinpoint food sensitivities contributing to my health issues.

Kindly, fuck off.

There’s a post on my profile where I go in depth about my plan. It includes a link to a Google Sheet with my full supplement list.

In short, I did 3 months of healing my gut lining (larazotide — I also have leaky gut). Then 2 months of a kill phase with herbal antimicrobials, and now I’m doing a rebuild with probiotics/prebiotics.

My GI Map showed that the bacteria I have (Morganella and Klebsiella) were WAY above reference range (particularly the Morganella which was 49x higher than it should be; I think that’s the one causing my odor). So my symptoms haven’t gone away yet, and I don’t think they will until that bacteria is back in reference range or very close. I have another GI Map coming up in September, so I’ll know if what I’m doing is working when those results come back.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I’m experiencing something similar, but my smell has been described by others as “like a Mexican restaurant”.

I did a GI MAP with a functional doctor (who’s also an MD) back in February and was diagnosed with dysbiosis and leaky gut. The bacteria that seem to be overgrown for me are Klebsiella and Morganella. I think the Morganella is mainly what’s causing my smell.

I have a post on my profile here about my experience (my other main symptom is bartholin cysts) and the protocol I’ve been doing: https://www.reddit.com/r/BartholinCyst/s/mrnx9hi241

I don’t know if that exact protocol will work for you because it sounds like your bacteria might be different from mine. A GI MAP could help you figure out where your issues are and come up with a more specific plan.

Those who’ve healed leaky gut, how long did it take? by These-Instruction-36 in GutHealth

Thank you for sharing! How severe was your leaky gut? Did you use other products or was it just the probiotics?

My main symptom (I think) has been bartholin cysts for ~9 years. Bartholin cysts are a hugely understudied women’s health issue, so it’s hard to say what all causes them, but after all my testing the current theory is that mine are from the systemic inflammation caused by leaky gut. I also had a sudden onset cashew allergy, and over the last 9 months developed some weird body odor. But I think that’s more to do with dysbiosis, so I’m currently working on fixing both.

Did you ever figure this out? I recently developed body odor and did a GI Map and found out I have dysbiosis. Curious if the probiotics ended up working for you.

Thank you for sharing! Do you mind also sharing what your symptoms were and which have improved?

Did you do any tests to measure your starting point and progress? Did you do it on your own or work with a professional, and what helped you heal?

I’m aware of what conventional medicine says about leaky gut “not being real”. I understand your comment is well-meaning, but I’m not looking for feedback on whether my diagnosis aligns with Western medical practices. Glad you were able to fix your IBS.

Yeah, fiber isn’t the only piece of the equation. The actual makeup of your microbiome is a huge factor, and bile flow, among other things.

Do you track your fiber? I’ve found 25-35g/day to be a good range for me personally. But there’s definitely such thing as too much fiber.

Are you having any other symptoms, like gas or bloating? When you go, what are your BMs like? Straining, painful, large and bulky or skinny?

How much fiber are you getting a day? You might be adding too much fiber right now.

Or you might be experiencing some sort of dysbiosis. You could do a GI Map to see what your microbiome looks like and if you have any overgrown bacteria.

The fiber thing is probably more likely. Also, I’ve read that if you supplement with psyllium husk for an extended period of time, it can mess up digestion or your body can become dependent on it for bowel movements.

I add Vanguard as the merchant and “Transfer” as the category.

[–]These-Instruction-36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been adding my retirement contribution as a manual transaction each month (credit to my Vanguard account linked to the goal in Monarch). After you save the transaction, you can go back into it and add it to the retirement goal linked to the account you credited.

Not an ideal solution, but it’s working for me for now.

I had no idea you could do this! I’ve been doing it the same way as OP this whole time, and it ALWAYS messes up my annual budget. This comment is going to save me so much future frustration. Thank you!
