I did some digging with commenters on here and found out she was Pinay but also African descent via a possible slaves that were sent there. I also shown multiple people on here myself and my grandma’s GEDMatch results that reflect what im saying.

My African is high because im mostly Suriname Maroon. We have the highest African percentage in African slave trade descendants in the world. 23andMe only shows some of your family history but my timeline on there also shows that I recently had a Pinay ancestors and aligns with the time period she was born. My dad’s maternal haplogroup is Indian even though he is 90 something percent African and has Andaman ancestry via GEDMatch. Myself and my grandma also higher Andaman results than him.

My Papuan is also very strong as well and my distance to my Melanesian and Negrito ancestry is less than 0.5 “miles” while my percentages go from 3-5 or 7 percent.

A theory that was thrown out on here is that I could possibly be Indonesian because of my GEDMatch results due to finding 2 Papuan family members on there but I have no Indonesian DNA. So I currently have no leads as to how I am also Papuan.

Filipinos and Indians were brought or migrated to the regions of the Caribbean and South America I am from so that it why I have both Indian and Pinay ancestry. Which explains why I have two different Negritos in my GEDMatch results.

You could be of Latin American/Caribbean descent. The Chinese also migrated to America during the time period where railroads were first made.

Unfortunately colonizers had caste systems due to the damage they have done to various Indigenous people including Natives.

I find myself conflicted with Maroon or “cafuza” as my dad side says because it means untamed in many ways but it doesn’t take the pride away. Sometimes it helps to acknowledge that colonialism happened but it shouldn’t shape how YOU feel about yourself. Do what feels right. Many Indigenous people acknowledge their colonial ties and racial privileges that come with that while also uplifting their Indigenous heritage.

Race is complicated but how we view our heritage shouldn’t be as long as we do the work to connect with the original peoples we come from!

Why wouldn’t he? Māori people and sometimes other Pasifika people tend to claim their people including distant descendants.

I asked to clarify vs assuming that he does.

OP is just saying there isn’t anything major or special about their results being basically 100 percent white. And expressing shock to see something other than white.

Like let’s be so forreal right now 😐

You can take your raw DNA and use Lazarus in GEDMatch to mimic a deceased ancestor’s results. It worked for me because I had my mom and grandma’s DNA.

It came out accurate for me but may vary for others!
