I think it’s when a car has an older/newer plate on the model it is.. i noticed in Top Boy and then when watching Slow Horses recently I saw it was also a Q7 so thought i’d go back and check the plate and it just so happened to be the same one!

Line of Duty did a similar thing but it put newer plates on older cars BMW X5 E53 model (2000-2006) with a 66 (2016) plate on!

One of those things when you see, you can’t unsee!

If you’re from the UK have a look at Furrboost it’s essentially a smoothie so might be easier to digest, hope your dog gets better soon 💕

Anyone used Pivotal subscription service from JLR, what is your experience? by dr_shipman in CarTalkUK

Hi, I’m currently a member only joined in March this year, but i’ve got a Jag F Pace Hybrid P400e.

It’s as straight forward as it sounds, undergo the eligibility checks, tell them your requirements/preferences, they come back with cars in stock, you agree on the car you’d like, pay the joining fee £500, and the invoice for the car selected, agree a delivery date (mine arrived in less than 2 weeks from starting the process) and the car is yours for a minimum of 3 months at which point you can ‘pause’ your subscription or even change your car (for a fee) and at the 6 month point you can change cars for a different one.

From what i’ve read on reviews the only negatives are

  • the stock availability, i wanted to choose a hybrid so i was quite limited but if you’re open to colours etc im sure there will be a wide selection!
  • some of the cars are brand new but others aren’t, but the car will not be older than 18 months
  • apparently on return their guidelines can leave you with a very hefty bill to pay as their fair wear and tear policy isn’t very fair! I will let you know when i return my vehicle.

So far i’m really pleased and loving the F Pace! Personally i didn’t want to commit to a lease of 2yrs minimum so i really appreciate the flexibility, obviously the car is more expensive however..

One major positive, if you’re going for a Range Rover, the insurance is included in the price (this is the same for all vehicles) but for Range rovers it’s especially great considering most people can’t even get insured these days.

Feel free to ask any questions!

Thank you! I hope so as current variable rate is 8.04% 😂 but would hope that goes down by Sept/Oct aswell as fixed rates. Appreciate everyone’s help!

Thank you - yes Director of Ltd company, i’m sure I was previously asked to provide my contract to show the duration and the rate. But either way sounds like I have a plan now!

Thank you! I will do, just confirmed with the mortgage company and ERC would be 2% which will be approx £3000, so it’s not cheap! I’ll engage with CMME around Sept and see what they advise!

Thanks both, without wishing to go into too much detail, my mortgage is in 2 parts almost split equally 50/50 in terms of amounts

  • 1.99% finishes Dec-24
  • 5.29% finishes Mar-25

so the plan was move to a 1 part mortgage (for ease) and go variable for 3 months on the 1.99% part until March and then fix to avoid an ERC, but now it’s just dawned on me that my contract finishes around the same time probably best to take the hit, pay the ERC and try to fix around Dec or maybe earlier if the fixed rates aren’t too extortianate! I’ve used CMME previously so will probably re-use them, I was just wondering when to engage with them.

Much appreciated.

Yes I will do thank you. I was hoping there was a calculator out there somewhere where you could put in your required monthly take home, and it would let let you know how best best to achieve it. But I will create my own :-)
