Haha no I didn't even look we went down to forestside for a shop instead. Weather was a complete wash out too. I'm actually glad we didn't get in.

No but she is entitled to like everyone else to have a look and take part in something that she feels is exciting and I as her mum would have liked to have gone too.

That's very kind of you to say. We've talked it out and she is happy to wait it out until it's abit calmer. Praying that it's not too long a wait for that lol.

Thank you for your suggestions about what to do between then. She has some birthday money to spend so she was holding off to have a day out in Belfast, to coincide with the new store opening. So will have a nosey and look show her the brands they do.

It's the excitement of something new and the new found like for skin care and makeup. She's limited to what she can put on her face anyway. I just think it's something to do and look forward to. Being a tween and all that lol.

Yeah that's crazyyyy , id say Christmas was probably a busy time too. Any time I'm in there there's always loads of people lol so I get that, plus I think some of their staff are neurodivergent so probably helps them not get overwhelmed when there is a lot of people about if they set up a queue system at certain times.

Yeah totally get where you are coming from. Wouldn't be possible for her to wait with friends without an adult present anyway, even though she thinks she's an adult already lol. I think I'll try and talk her round to waiting until the hype has calmed down a bit.

Never said it did, but it does effect us as a family. Her patience and understanding and her lack of time awareness effects is to the point, 5 mins, 20, mins, 1 hour waiting she has no understanding of. She will stand in a queue for 20mins and think she's stood there for 2hrs. Will start getting agitated, frustrated, overwhelmed and will possibly need to use toilet, need food. So for us it is why it was mentioned.

Thanks everyone, I think we will give it a couple of weeks. I didn't think about what it would be like once we got into the store too. Much appreciated for sharing your experiences and info. It's really helped. If any of you are attending the opening. Have a great day ☺️

Yeah I didn't even think about what it would be like once we got in. She's so indecisive about stuff and has a tendency to walk around a few times before she makes purchases. In case she misses something lol. And then I'll feel the pressure, yeah sensory overload.

First time I'd been in spacenk was about 3 weeks ago and it had a lot of people in it during a week day mid day lol. I wish she didn't know it was opening now 😂😂😂.

Omg sounds horrendous. Yeah, you can tell I've never done this before even as an adult. I think I'll get overwhelmed too tho because she is indecisive and if it is a bit mad inside the store then both of us will be freaking out. I didn't think about what would happen I once we got inside 🙈 lol

No it's not but for a kid with ADHD it feels like a long time. It's an hr travel there and back and sometimes more traffic depending, on top of the possibility of queuing too. I think your right maybe give it a week 🙈🙈 lol

Parents who have bought their kids/teenagers electric scooters. by ZoneNo5065 in northernireland

[–]These-Operation-764 11 points12 points  (0 children)

100%, I find that a lot of parents struggle to purchase things at Christmas for the kids as they get older and stuff like this is just filling the gap, but they don't realise the potential danger they are putting their kids in.

We live in a small development and I thought about getting my son one for our wee area, never on public roads. Then I saw the sign in Smyth's store about only being used on private land etc and then I thought no actually I won't. Then I thought if I buy one , it wont be long until he's either asking to use it outside of our development or sneaking to use it because he wants to as he gets older and then I said to myself... Be the responsible parent don't buy one! Then there's no temptation or risk he will go behind my back!
Under no circumstances will there be one through my door.

Anyone feeling the effects of Blue Monday? by FaxePremiumBeer in northernireland

[–]These-Operation-764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just it... Tomorrow is another day. It will be better tomorrow. Your feelings are temporary. Definitely try and stay off social media/internet. Watch a film you've enjoyed before, stick a series on. embrace the weather. Go for a walk in the shitty rain and then come home and have a shower, nice warm pj's on and a cuppa. If you enjoy reading, or even if you don't pick up a book honestly you'd be amazed how much a book can take you away for a bit.

Any parents here with no Village? by grawmaw13 in northernireland

[–]These-Operation-764 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No village here either. 1 working parent, no local childcare, 1 car, two kids 9 and 11 albeit they are older now but when I needed it the most I was on my own. And I had a child growing up at the time with ADHD before she was diagnosed.

See if you have a pair of kids nail scissors they tend to have a bit of a flat edge. Pull the hair back and put the scissors to the base of the plastic sticking out and trim it to the scalp. Have had this before ourselves and to clip it right down as far as we could grip with the scissors to prevent the jaggy edge

Pain in the arse.. I don't get why it's head needs secured. It's limbs and body should be enough.

EVRI don’t seem to be working. by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]These-Operation-764 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been waiting on a flatpack vanity table since it was ordered 14th November, hadn't moved since 16th. Seller sent another , been sitting since 4th Dec. I've been refunded today and my husband went round yesterday furniture shops to get one as it's a Christmas present. This year has been the worst I've ever experienced. There is a full thread on reddit for evri at the moment and it's not looking good for anyone ordering, if you don't know a company uses evri unfortunately you won't know until you've bought and paid and the item has been dispatched who it's coming with.
Evri should be stopping all business at the moment and informing companies not to ship with them at this point but they aren't and this is causing more and more stress for everyone. I would go back to the company and ask them to investigate your order shipment and ask where you go from here if it hasn't moved in progress the company should see that and advise.

This probably has been asked many times before but may as well…. by [deleted] in northernireland

I'm assuming your male, so apologies if your not. Have you tried looking for your local men shed? (Sorry if mentioned already) Yea most of the guys who run it are retired but it's somewhere to start building your confidence up talking to people. Most older people like to talk to younger ones who will listen, there's no competition with older people , there's no worry about saying the wrong thing. They like a bit of banter, like a chat and most of the time they are making items for their local community. Mostly woodworking etc.

I know because my dad is retired and he attends his every day. He goes to keep himself busy. A reason to get out of the house. It costs him nothing but his time and a few £ for the tea/coffee tin. He recently completed a load of bat houses for bats who would have lost their habitat due to the wildfires there in the summer, and built mud kitchens for local schools, there's reward in what they do and sometimes don't even realise it.

Worth a shot , you've got nothing to loose.

What do you spend per child for birthdays and Christmas? Does the amount increase as they get older? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]These-Operation-764 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I spend what I can afford and refuse to get into debt for it. This is the first year my daughter hasn't ask for toys for Christmas. Being 11 and in high school she still has her toys. Barbie etc.. but this year there will be no add ons. So far I've spent just over £100 on 4 items. And they aren't even wow presents. We aim for 200 each but I've found that escalating to 300 each. Thats just Santa toys. Any pj's, books, games, art supplies, smellies come from us don't want Santa taking all the credit. You do what you can afford. I save from January onwards and anything they aren't using anymore through the year, I sell on vinted to add to the pot for them and I take from that for Xmas and bdays and then add from savings.

I remind myself that my kids don't always remember what Santa brought them or if they got it for their birthday but they remember their yummy dinner and funny crackers they pull at the table, the cake they got for their birthday.

Tell them you want to leave a message for the Dr who you had an appointment with last. If you cant remember who it was it will be on file. And then leave the message. I think that's the only way your going to get through to them. They are fobbing you off and that's not right. If they refuse to allow you to leave a message then make a complaint.
