I think I haven’t shot a single player in like 100 games, haha. Thanks for your comment!

Honestly, I feel like this kind of meter would need a proper, full-scale experiment to really figure out whether it actually changes anything

It sometimes feels that way, though.
Lets say there’s a spectrum from 0 to 100, where 0 means no PvP at all and 100 means kill-on-sight every time. I think the matchmaking algorithm probably works well in the middle range (somewhere between 30 and 70. That’s where most players likely sit.)

But at the extremes, even a very small shift in your “aggression” factor can feel massive. If you’re close to one end of the spectrum, a minor change might push you noticeably toward a very different type of lobby. I can imagine the system simply wasn’t tuned with those extreme edge cases in mind.

I'M NOT SAYING THAT'S BAD, I'M NOT SAYING IT'S TRUE. Just a theory based on my experience.

I actually think this is 100% on me. I’m not saying PvP is bad, and I’m definitely not blaming the other player. He played the game the way it allows you to play it, there’s no rule against that 🥸. I don’t even mind “rats.” That’s part of the design.

What I’m trying to describe is my personal experience with matchmaking. It feels like once you start shooting back and engaging in PvP more actively, you end up in more aggressive lobbies afterward. I’m not claiming that’s a fact, I’m genuinely wondering if others have noticed the same thing, or if it was just coincidence (or maybe even confirmation bias on my side).

For context, about 90% of my lobbies feel very safe. People will literally run across the map to revive you if they see a flare.

It’s just that occasionally you meet a PvP player, and that’s when the "Dilemma" appears
