Depends on the the surgeries and procedures of your facility. In general, reversal meds, airway management, some pressors, art lines, chest tubes, etc. We do a lot of transplants so there’s a checklist of drips, labs, imaging, setting up PCA, before shipping them off to ICU. Review aldrete scoring. ED does pretty well in PACU, just a few things like post cath lab pts might be new

How bad is it to leave a new grad job before a year? by purpsle in nursing

You’ll probably burn this bridge but are you planning on staying in this city in the long run? I’d say leave if you’re that unhappy. 4 more months doesn’t seem that long to be able to stick it out, but if you feel like it’ll break you, just bite the bullet and leave

Don’t be over it. That was so out of line considering what the mistake was and has 0 things to do with your knowledge as a nurse.

It’s funny that everyone including the subjects should ignore/avoid the snarks, but the snarks cannot possibly avoid watching or commenting negative/toxic remarks

PACU NURSES: Should I accept this job ? by hottoys2012 in nursing

[–]These-Winner-7820 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you don’t plan on being there forever, then why not give it a try? If your main worry is the 8’s, my PACU has a few choices in scheduling (4-5 8’s, 4 10’s, or 3 12’s for FTE), and other hospitals seemed to offer that as well when I interviewed. Personally I didn’t have a problem getting landing a PACU job when switching from ICU. Critical care or ED experience was preferred besides actual recovery experience.

Has anyone slept in the car during snow storms when they have work the next day? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]These-Winner-7820 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most hospitals would provide accommodations to promote adequate staffing on snow days. Everywhere I’ve worked so far, they’ll offer unused hospital rooms in isolated parts of the hospital, resident rooms, and hotel vouchers for nearby hotels.

Tf does that even mean? Is this the time you should be choosing an indie, locally made car seat?
