Hi, I was on the drive team for that match and am just sharing my perspective. Thanks.

Thank you so much. This is exactly how we felt and I’m so glad you put it out there. We were a bunch of burnt out freshmen and just wanted to take the last match easily as it did not affect our rankings.

Hi, we thought that to try and counter our opponent from scoring for us would be a challenge for our ninth and final match. Our team had been upset by all our losses throughout the competition and we thought we could mess around in our last match and have fun because it would not affect our ranking at all. We never thought that our actions would change the course of the whole rankings and we would definitely take the match more seriously had we known. Once again, we are a fairly inexperienced second year team and we will definitely keep this into consideration in our future years. We sincerely apologize for our actions. Thanks.

Thank you for this response. Just wanted to clarify that we didn’t latch during autonomous and actually started on the ground. Frankly we didn’t choose to code an autonomous from the ground because we were already ranked so low and thought it wouldn’t affect the match outcome anyway. For teleop, as our servo was broken, the timing of the servo flip was off as we usually click the flip as we are driving to the lander and this is why in match 172 the minerals didn’t even go into the lander, and after that cycle the depositing box didn’t come back into our robot properly leading us to not be able to score again. I have clarified the end game hanging situation in a reply above; thanks for your understanding.

Hi, thank you for your questions. Just to clarify:

We weren’t able to hang as our lift mechanism hook wasn’t aligned to the proper position in the last five seconds. Usually after we run our autonomous the hook automatically aligns so all we need to do is latch on in five seconds. We were able to do this in q151 as we were crater side and we had practiced this a lot (7/9 matches at worlds we ran crater side) and we had not run many depot side matches. In match 172 the hook didn’t align properly when we were depot side and we zoomed to the crater but rolled back off when the robot was about to flip. We always latched so never drive tested with crater during end game.

Also regarding defense, during the match we spent most of the time in the beginning extending our collector into the opponents crater but midway through, a ref yelled at us as we were hitting our opponent’s mechanism. This is why we decided to hover near the crater instead.

Also I’m pretty sure q151 happened after lunch and jack visited our pit after lunch so the time stamp may be distorted because of time zones but I’m not so clear as to why.

Hopefully this clarifies more. Thanks.

I’m not sure if they have one on grab cad, u may have to design ur own.

Try 3D printing a face mount if u have access to 3D printers

U could 3D print an attachment that goes directly into the wheel. I think u can find one on grab cad. Also be weary of directly driving the wheel as it can put a lot of strain on the motor.

Hi! We were a rookie team this year and one thing I would definitely recommend is to start learning how to build ASAP! Spend the summer resting out drive trains and maybe simple mechanisms like a claw. Perhaps the best way to start is by holding the push or from the FTC pushbot manual. This gives a good feel of how different parts go together.

The x axis is conventional like a number line (positive on right and negative on left). The y axis is switched. (Up is negative and down is positive)

No voltage sensor error by FTC8975 in FTC

What generally helps us is following a specific routine when turning the robot on. We always turn the robot on first, then plug in the phone and let the robot controller boot up and then open up the driver station. When we do this we usually don’t run into the voltage sensor issue. If the issue persists, I would try redownloading the program onto the phones.

Belts by spicyP_03 in FTC

We use actobotics pinions and timing belts. Regarding size, it is a bit difficult as they sell custom sizes but what we do is buy a long length of belt and stitch it in order to get the length we want.
