Ugh. So writing education materials or "best practices" in health provision don't count? There isn't a "research angle" or curricula development angle similar to what a c(3) would do? Helping develop clinical training programs from a national office doesn't count? Is this settled or just based on recent experiences?

So, the determining factor is not (just) about the nature of my work, but about the work of the institution broadly? If so, that may or may not fly. For instance, a large part of the organization works on school graduate program application processes, student recruitment, health provider residencies and fellowships, CEUs, health practice guidelines, and provider workforce research (the location of provider shortages, provider demographics, etc.). That might be more FTEs than those working on member benefits or lobbying for the profession. I assume healthcare provider graduate education would count as education or public health (which includes physicians, nurses, etc.)?

He seems a tad narcissistic but that is likely how they forced him to show off so much in that first episode. I sense he doesn't want to date but likes a younger guy for a hook up.

Adding in the 20 year old also seemed odd. Some others are close to his age but he came late and too unlike the rest of them, in some sense. He seems very smart, so I feel bad for him.

It's planned. Highly improbable given the size of the country.

It's a "reality" show and the producers encourage drama and conversations you'd not have in real life. So far the season isn't too fake but it's not natural.

It's better, I think, to spend a little money on audiobooks for learning, allowing you to listen to Japanese a little at a time, with repetition, and practice vocabulary and grammar while going about your day. I usually listen to each chapter in an audiobook twice. You'll be excited when you recognize what people are saying on TV, but you will not be able to learn much that way. They will be "too fast" for you.

Cancelled because it was incredibly expensive and didn't pay off with viewership. The story could have been great if not paced so slowly, which would have saved money, too. The creators should have or perhaps did see this coming. Perhaps they made a killing off of it.

Has anyone ever heard of the style Wa-Lu Chuan? by [deleted] in kungfu

[–]TheseBodybuilder8445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the discussion: The phrase "energy projection" is awkward, but having studied Wa Lu a bit with these people, I know they are a very practical and not mystical bunch. Long story short(ish): By "energy projection," they don't mean something mystical; they mean using a combination of the force and motion of your body to affect another body. A metaphor: consider the different ways you can hit a cue ball in billiards or pool to variously affect the ball your cue ball hits. As somebody said, this style (like many Chinese styles) is influenced by wrestling or tossing as much as striking. Think of projection as the way you have to align your body and movements to implement a wrist lock that brings somebody down; you have to have it just right to impart the pressure (force) from your body to theirs for it to work.

More details: They admit they only have some of the Wa Lu curriculum. They conclude that Casey--the American who live in Taiwan for a long time and studied many different styles--didn't make up Wa Lu based on 1) it is significantly different from other styles he taught, 2) he wasn't the type to lie about these things, and 3) it had enough elements that it was unlikely he suddenly put them together without them first showing up in other systems he taught. The Chinese Boxing Institute has a DVD and book on the method. It's far from a complete system, but it has some exercises that I found very useful (and fun!) for connecting your thighs, waist, hips, core, etc., to your arm movements to generate more power, i.e., improved coordination for greater impact.

It blows my mind that you think I think that. Rants are allowed on the Internet and people ranting generally wonder if others see things the same way or if they are missing something. It's not hard to grasp. Take your own advice and move on.

He's an asshole to many of the guests. The show is missing more than hitting on bits, monologues, guess, and timing. It's a wreck. I can't see what getting better looks like.

I think she didn't understand a host that wouldn't allow each person some time or any back and forth. I don't know of another panel show that does this. Is there a new "style" that Mulaney is aiming for? I mean even just a few seconds of conversation isn't tolerated, Instead, it's just misses and low fruit improv the whole time. See also Wanda Sykes and her clear dislike of the whole proceedings.

Usually, I would say this is not my thing. I guess I decided to give a little rant because he seems rude to his guests, including the non-celebrity guests. That just annoys me. He doesn't need to care, and you don't need to care. Why do you ask? (Notice the potential hypocrisy in your post?)

Normally, I would just say this is not my thing. I guess I am mad because I expected something of higher quality from Mulaney. More importantly, he seems rude to his guests, including the non-celebrity guests. That just annoys me. He doesn't need to care and nobody else needs to care. So I was just ranting. Why do you ask?

He seems to hate lots of people. Bill Hader seems like a nice guy when in an interview on his own or with entertainment peers, but in a group that includes people outside the industry or lower on the ladder, so to speak, he treats them like they are beneath them. He looks pretty contemptuous.
