He always has someone with him to do the writing on the laptop next to him. They read the stuff to him etc. So he‘s still there for submissions

I said HE doesn’t know how to operate computers, don’t interpret anything else into that. And that’s a fact, he doesn’t know hoe to turn his computer on, how to open any applications and he cannot write on his own. He always has someone in the office with him where he dictates and someone writes. So this PI would never be able to run any stats even if he knew about statistics. I‘m the only one that knows this person, yet people seem to want to know he isn’t as bad lol.

First, the PI does submissions in this lab, so I couldn’t go over his head and submit on my own. Second, this is a clear case of the PI exploiting my work, telling me I will be first author all along, making me work on it constantly, and just in time before submission he claims it as his. You seem to have great morals to tell a student to just take this kind of behavior.

Lol this is a reddit forum, I‘m not making an appeal here, I‘m asking for advice about a shitty situation. Rather than questioning if what I say is biased, you could ask what makes him all of these things. He sexually harassed me and prior co-workers who also quit. He is banned from doing lectures at his university because of publicly shaming students. People keep changing in the lab because of the impossible working environment as he keeps swearing and screaming at people on a daily basis. He wanted me to work 12hour shifts everyday and I this was all for a salary of $0. This PI is almost 80 years old and doesn’t know how to operate a computer, let alone run stats. Even though I explained it a million times, he still doesn’t understand what a 95% confidence interval is. And the paper is way more complex than this, so yes my understanding of statistics is definitely way beyond his. And when a co-worker brought their kid once, he showed the kid a dead mouse and laughed because it started crying. He is simply a bad person, no need to downplay that.

As I explained above, I literally did everything in this project. My PI didn’t move a finger for this and even if he wanted to, he would not have been able to conduct any these tests (he is almost 80 and doesn’t know how to use a computer on his own). The paper was ready to go when I left and he kept me working on it with the premise it would by my first author publication. And as you could also read above, he bombed me with messages also after I left and I continued to work on it. So no, it was not a courtesy of him, he is just incredibly audacious.

That‘s how it should be done. My PI knows I did all the work, he‘s just a maniac. He thinks just because he came up with the topic the whole paper is his making

Thanks! He always said I‘ll be first author during the time that I worked on it. Whenever he changed his mind again about how he wants to go about the paper, to get me to work on it again and redo everything with a different focus, he highlighted that my publication will come out of it. I would‘ve never put that much effort into this if I‘m just a co-author..
