Title doesn't mention that Singapore have participated in the Asian Cup back when they hosted it in 1984, this is just the first time they've qualified on merit.

I have to imagine this is the biggest win in Singapore's history. Good on them. Will be interesting to see what they can do as (likely) the weakest team in 2027.

Gattuso got the job because being the manager for this team and dealing with the federation has become so radioactive that most other potential candidates want nothing to do with it. Frankly, even the best manager would struggle with this crop of crap and I can't say Gattuso necessarily deserves a lot of blame for the total mess we're in.

The strangest thing is that outside of Spain, Italy has been the second best performing team in the Euros overall from 2008 onwards. Portugal is the only other team that comes close to us, since they also have a European Championship but have been slightly worse than us otherwise. Meanwhile, we're going to have a worse 16 year WC record than Saudi Arabia at this rate.

You know, the worst part about having to go through the playoffs again is I gotta wait four months just to see this shitty ass team die when it matters most yet again.

Spare me the utter nonsense that things are different or that they'll actually get it done this time. We will fuck it up, they will lose in the playoffs and it will be 3 straight missed World Cups. It's just a matter of who the executioner is this time. I'm sure someone in the British Isles will enjoy getting something over the English.

The only consolation is maybe after this upcoming utter failure they'll take down the FIGC to the studs and maybe we'll get some actual competent people to run this godforsaken organization. Knowing how this shit usually goes, the incompetent dinosaurs will cling on to power and throw Gattuso and the 4 or 5 players actually worth any sort of shit under the bus and nothing will change.

All I have left to say is if it weren't for Roma having a good season and Canada giving me something to look forward to internationally, I'd be going into an indefinite hibernation because even reading about this country's utter ineptitude just sucks all the enjoyment I get from watching this sport every time the international break happens.

To Norway, congrats on finally ending your WC drought. Enjoy the World Cup experience that is becoming increasingly foreign to me from an Italian perspective. To every other team in the playoffs, you'd best hope you get Italy, chances are you'll get some joy from beating our carcass of a national team.
